* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: [[spoiler:The Triumvirate at the very end dialogue are revealed to be GoodAllAlong, trying to stop an orb of pure corruption that will ultimately destroy them all if they don't do something about it. Their solution: enact a time loop until the blade feeds enough power off of death via wars of rebellion against the Trimvirate until it has enough energy to destroy the orb. The ''problem'': the same dialogue reveals the Triumvirate also don't have a very high opinion of the citizens they created to do this, they have no problem creating and causing open war against their own citizens just to feed the blade, often the reasons they use to create rebellions are the flimsiest, spend enough time with them and you end up becoming damn near sociopathic and deranged in your single-mindedness to serve them, their tests of loyalty often consist of BreakTheCutie and false promises about what you want, and who knows how many times they've done the same thing over and over again without ever feeling a shade of regret and considering their actions justified. If they ''are'' supposed to be good, they range from SociopathicHero to NominalHero status at ''best''.]]

Consider that Sovy, a ManipulativeBastard with a high range of early KickTheDog moments, openly changes his mind despite having enjoyed the position for years and becomes completely willing to sell-out his own employers within a matter of ''days'' of his separation from their service. Or someone like Gryz who they forced to kill every last one of his sheep before becoming one of their lieutenants, or Ulric who leads the Occupation and slowly realizes how much death the Triumvirate leave in their wake, or even Halin who confesses to being controlled like PeoplePuppets under their thrall if he survives to the end. If they ''are'' supposed to be good, they range from SociopathicHero to NominalHero status at ''best''.]]

* EsotericHappyEnding: Some of the best endings are this, particularly if someone dies; sure you saved the world, but the game tends to call you out hard if your actions means someone didn't survive.
** [[spoiler:In some of the better endings involving a restart of the time loop, there's no word on what Pro's situation is. While the world is more peaceful, Pro's backstory of being thrown out at a young age was the only one ''not'' dependent on the Triumvirate taking advantage of him, and thus the possibility not much has changed for him. And depending on how the world's been moving along, Alarinthia could still be facing power struggles if Ulric didn't succeed in his own time. The epilogue clarifies neither situation.]]

** [[spoiler:Even if you rescue Shane, after he comes back to rescue Damek, he will just disappear off the map in the Epilogue and no one will know what happened to him. Even Sovy gets hints that he's still around, while Shane just vanishes off the map.]]

** The "good" endings in the epilogue combine this with Heartwarming [[spoiler:if you sacrificed yourself. Anyone who you had a romance arc with and survived the final battle is honoring you in some way, from Ulric taking the throne of the Monarchy in your place and following your example, to Damek serving him as he did you, to Pro becoming well known and devoting his best writing talent to recording your history, to Valessa constantly taking flowers to Sauleberg even if she's primarily in Mazeo, and to Fortaime establishing a holiday in honor of you in Valinorth.]]

** Early Sovy acts, both on-screen and in the Parallel Chronicles, tend to combine this with EvilIsCool given how entertainingly menacing and scheming he is.

** Damek's backstory.
