* GameBreaker: The two spells that let you teleport up or down one dungeon level make finishing quests a breeze, as you can just chain-teleport down to the marked level, kill whatever monster you were sent to kill, then chain-teleport out of the dungeon without having to bother with navigating any of those pesky 3D mazes.

** And of course, there's actual giant bats, who are easily the hardest-hitting of the early dungeon monsters and can put you in a world of hurt if you can't kill them quickly. Easily the game of any player just starting out.
* HilariousInHindsight: The game's ending involves travelling centuries into the past to defeat a villain who cannot be killed by any conventional means? Hmm, sounds an awful lot like the first game of [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyI another popular RPG series...]]

* CounterpartComparison: A sorceror who's practically invincible to all conventional means requiring the hero to time travel to find a way to defeat him for good? Are we talking about Mondain or [[VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia Dhaos]]? The only differences are that Dhaos was seemingly naturally immune to most forms of damage compared to Mondain needing to complete the Gem of Immortality, and when you do corner Mondain in the past, he never gets the chance to escape to the future.

I could be wrong on this, but I kinda noticed it myself. Thanks, Garriot.

* GoddamnBats: Gremlins. They're not particularly difficult to kill, but they steal food with every hit. Run out of food and you instantly die. This is especially annoying early on when you're trying to balance out buying food with upgrading your equipment. Oh, and you can't loot the stolen food off their bodies when they die.

** And of course, there's actual bats. Some go down easily enough, but then you run into bats that can suddenly hit like a freight train and kill you in a matter of hits.
