* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: The story about Future Cobweb and Future Clarice, even by Creator/AlanMoore's standards.

* TrueArtIsIncomprehensible: Specifically the story about Cobweb's ancestor, La Toile, an {{Homage}} to the real "collage novels" of the German surrealist Max Ernst.

** The First American's marriage to Blonde Woman ends as well as you'd expect.
--->'''First American''': You lousy bitch, Blonde Woman! You ruined my life! How am I supposed to think with these kids screaming all the time! And where's my dinner?
--->'''Blonde Woman''': I'm leaving you for my aromatherapist.
*** And then when F.A. marries Gerta:
--->'''Gerta''': You lousy bitch, First American! You ruined my life! How am I supposed to think with these kids screaming all the time! And where's my dinner?
--->'''First American''': I'm leaving you for my aromatherapist.
*** The kicker? It was the same aromatherapist Blonde Woman left him for.
** Jack's ignorance of how suicidal his parents have become because of his frequent perversions of life and nature. In one story, the two are preparing to hang themselves in the barn, which Jack fails to notice. In the following segment (after Jack spent a good chunk of time stuck in a void outside of reality), his parents have "suddenly" realized life is precious... and within thirty seconds of being back Jack manages to drive his mother to tears.

Unfortunate Implications require citations.

* UnfortunateImplications: Cobweb and Clarice's relationship goes from kinky to genuinely disturbing when it gets revealed that they're the latest in a very long line of parthenogenically reproduced children who were raised together in the same household as sisters since they were babies. While they aren't biologically related to one another, it's noted that Cobweb and Clarice share mothers (Cobweb considers her biological mother and Clarice's mom to be both of her parents, and vice versa with Clarice), as were their moms raised the same way dating back centuries. Essentially, Cobweb's romantic and sexual desires for Clarice are glorified incestuous feelings for her own sister, something that was normalized in their household and is downplayed by the narrative due to the fact they're both queer women.

* DesignatedHero: First American. He's lacking in every heroic virtue, including but not limited to competence, common sense, empathy or morals. But, well, it's his title.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Squick}}: Cobweb and Clarice come from a lineage of women who discovered a way to reproduce asexually. Even though all of Cobweb and Clarice's ancestors weren't related to each other biological, each pair after the line began were essentially raised together like sisters and yet still were sexually attracted to one another. Which mean Cobweb and Clarice are the latest in a long line of incestuous relationships.

* DesignatedHero: First American.
* HollywoodPudgy: Characters comment that First American has got a weight problem, but he's clearly illustrated with a HeroicBuild. However, in the ABC 80-Page Giant, one of the fake ads featured a superhero girdle meant to fake six-pack abs, with F.A. as the model. And on the cover of the first trade, Kevin Nowlan clearly drew him with a beer gut.
