Repair Dont Respond. Except don\'t repair either, because you are incorrect. The rape gave her the power to transform; the \"mother\" archetype goddess only helped give her the final push to use it instead of clinging to the remains of her humanity. We\'ve been over this.

* UnfortunateImplications: Apparently, [[spoiler: getting very physically, very brutally raped by a ten-foot fox-deity on the much darker side of the TricksterArchetype spectrum is one way of gaining the power to turn into a beautiful, otherworldly demi-goddess.]] Not so much. It wasn't the [[spoiler: rape]] that turned Julia into a [[spoiler: demi-goddess]], it was the fact that she was willing to sacrifice herself for her friends that caught the attention of [[spoiler: a real "Mother" archetype goddess, who transformed Julia into a demi-goddess so as to better serve her.]]

Yes, and the deliberately cruel manner in which he bestows that power on her carries with it Unfortunate Implications.

This has already been covered and deleted once: as was mentioned before, this isn\'t an issue of Julia accidentally becoming a demigoddess thanks to the rape - it\'s an instance of Renard being deliberately cruel in bestowing her with everything the FTB group wanted - just in the most monstrous way he could

Updated to meet new Nightmare Fuel criteria.

* HighOctaneNightmareFuel: When time stops still in the middle of class and The Beast appears, though they can't move, everyone is still aware of what's happening, which means that Amanda Orloff was perfectly conscious the entire time she was being eaten alive ''one bite at a time'', and probably a few people had no choice but to watch it all. The Beast counts as this in general.

Reread the novel again; not entirely sure unfortunate implications applies- Renard didn\'t give Julia godhood by accident. He specifically tells her that he was going to grant her exactly what the FTB group wanted- it\'s just that he decided to give it to her in a way that would hurt her. PS: I need to be more prompt in rereading

The trope requires the Victim to have a) died, and b) have been consistantly assholish: Quentin and Janet might be unpleasant at times, but neither of them die. Applying the label of Asshole victim to Amanda and Alice wouldn\'t work, so throwing this one out. One last thing- Asshole victim is not a YMMV trope.

Finally reread that section: the book does say that she had to use what Renard did to her (the key word being \"use\") to transform herself into \"what she wanted to be.\" In other words, the godhood isn\'t just a side-effect of being raped by Renard- it was something that Julia had to specifically work to get at. After all, it\'s not as if she just emerged from the experience as a demi-goddess; she spent most of the novel emotionally withdrawn and broken, up until the very end. So, I can see where there might be grounds for Unfortunate Implications, but it\'s not as simple as \"getting raped turns you into a beautiful demi-goddess.\"

This got deleted from the characters page. The person deleting it incorrectly complained that it was not the rape that turned her— it is specifically stated in the books that it was what gave her the magical juju to undergo the transformation— but was correct that it should probably go in the YMMV tab.
