* SoBadItsGood: The voice acting in the EU version of the game ranges from "They at least sound like they're trying" (Reid and Meredy), to utter lack of care territory (nearly everyone else, with Farah being the worst offender.) This is ''usually'' very funny and hammy, although some people get annoyed that Farah's VA still isn't giving a damn [[spoiler:even during her bigger plot reveals and emotional moments]].

* PortingDisaster: The EU version of the PSP port has some issues.
** Some of the voice clips got mixed up, resulting in a nice load of {{Narm}} during some cut-scenes.
** If you play the EU version on a North American PSP, the game may [[GameBreakingBug freeze up]] after the battle with Volt, making it [[UnWinnable impossible to proceed]].
** Funnily enough, when you beat Sylph in the PSP version, his name in his first line after the battle is rendered in kana (it goes back to normal in his next line).

* GameBreaker: Max and the Canceler. The item allows him to charge a low-level arte, then cast a high level arte in its place. His Mystic Arte, Elemental Master, is broken by itself ''without'' this due to being spammable and covering most of the screen. With it, be prepared to one shot any normal creatures in the game and make boss battles significantly easier.

* ThatOneBoss
** Hyades, the second and third time you fight him.
** Undine, Sylph, and Celsius in particular in the first half of the game. Prepare to be slaughtered by their aoe attacks when you won't have Nurse yet.
** Shadow. His Infinite-HP minions don't help either.

** Actually, part of the problem is that the AI's not very good at controlling her. She tends to dart in dart out, and doesn't always use the right abilities. Plus, she needs someone like Reid serving as a distraction.

* GrowingTheBeard: This is where the ''Tales'' series really started to pick up, particularly with the battle system. Things were sped up considerably and all spells are now performed in real time, allowing you to chain your artes with the mages rather than have them serve as damage and distraction. The game also introduced a degree of character customization in the Craymel system, two worlds with considerably different world maps, and much more character development. ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia'' and ''VideoGame/TalesOfRebirth'' are much more obvious example of beard-growing in that the former started the DeconstructorFleet and the latter started making them DarkerAndEdgier, but they owe a lot to ''Eternia''.
