That was the first time he made it clear he WouldHurtAChild.

** Some see [[HoYay subtext]] between Jack and Bunny. Others see it as a case of BestialityIsDepraved because Bunny is, well, a ''[[FunnyAnimal bunny]]''.

** Those who dislike Jack Frost, specifically Elsa fans who hate having him paired up with her, love to bring up the movie's poor box office performance and being a dead franchise. Many fanarts and jokes will tend to portray Jack as a failure who's trying to date Elsa as a way to save his career.
** Jack Frost will often be shown as being this to Shrek, a fan favorite and Dreamworks darling.

* ItsPopularNowItSucks: The massive popularity of the Jack/[[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Elsa]] CrossoverShip and the heated arguments for and against it have gained a backlash not only against the movie but also [[MisplacedRetribution its fans and even William Joyce]], the original creator of the Guardians. Most of the backlash against the film is caused by it, as there was no such hate until ''after'' the ship took off.

** ''Fanfic/RiseOfTheBraveTangledDragons'' is fans of ''Rise of the Guardians'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}}'', ''WesternAnimation/HowToTrainYourDragon'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Brave}}'' taking FriendlyFandoms to extreme and becoming a fandom itself.
** With ''WesternAnimation/Frozen2013''. Both movies give a lot of focus and development to a TragicIceCharacter and have fear as the antagonistic force, and Jack is often paired up with Elsa. * AwardSnub: Was edged out of a nomination for the Oscars' Best Animated Feature by the surprise choice of ''WesternAnimation/ThePiratesBandOfMisfits''.

* ColbertBump: The [[CrossoverShip crossover ship]] of Jack with [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Elsa]] has been credited for the popularity of this movie, seeing how it didn't have that big of an audience or fanbase to begin with.

So one of them could easily watch you from the window or stand right next to you, ''and you would never know''. The Guardians are benevolent spirits though; now imagine that the MonsterUnderTheBed is real, and this one is very unfriendly. He can corrupt your dreams and give you endless nightmares about things you fear the most, and there's nothing you can do about it.

* UncannyValley: The design of the Guardians and some of the kids come across as this to several viewers, often described as a strange movie by those who remember it. A lot of this can be attributed to the fact that the animators were trying out a new skin texture that, as the Art of the Rise Of The Guardians book described, resembles "jelly".

** The Guardians are [[InvisibleToNormals invisible to anyone who doesn't believe in them]]. So one of them could easily watch you from the window, be in the same room with you, or be standing right next to you, ''and you would never know''.

* WTHCastingAgency:
** While many tend to defend Creator/ChrisPine as Jack Frost, arguing that it reflects him being Really700YearsOld, others are critical, asking why Jack's [[VocalDissonance voice changes when his body doesn't]], why his [[ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty voice stops aging at 30]] and why he still had the same voice [[spoiler:when he was actually a human teenager]].

* AngstWhatAngst: [[spoiler:When Jack gets back the memories of his human life, he is absolutely delighted: he had a family once and even saved his younger sister! The facts that he died in the process and that, by now, all of said family is long gone doesn’t seem to bother him at all.]]

* CriticalDissonance: The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, but cost $145 million to produce and only made $103.2 million at the North American box office, becoming Creator/DreamworksAnimation's lowest grossing film domestically since ''WesternAnimation/FlushedAway''. * VindicatedByHistory: By fans? Yes. By Creator/DreamWorks? No. Thanks to the superhero genre's popularity (partly thanks to ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' coming out that same year), and the perceived similarities between [[AnIcePerson Jack Frost]] and [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Elsa]] within the fandom (not to mention Jack's LauncherOfAThousandShips status), many people who missed ''Guardians'' in theaters checked it out and came to appreciate its merits. Sadly, Creator/DreamWorks continues to treat ''Guardians'' like an OldShame. It has even gained enough popularity to earn a backlash against it.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Everything is detailed to the last hair. To say nothing of the design of the ice and snow flakes Jack creates, which perfectly capture the art style of Guillermo Del Toro.
