* IdiotPlot: Risen 3. The plot depends on Bones [[spoiler: not telling the hero that he noticed suspicious behavior in one of their crewmates. He even tells the hero there was always "something more important" than '''telling the hero there might be a traitor on board that is sabotaging the mission'''.]] This is supposed to be funny and part of Bones' quirkiness but actually pushes your [[TheLancer Lancer]] into WhatAnIdiot territory.
* GameBreaker: Guardians in Risen 3 can become ridiculously powerful. Not only do the ElementalPunch spells ludicrous damage, but Guardians also get access to a very useful support spell in addition to the regular [[HealThyself Heal]] magic: [[MasterOfUnlocking Rust]], which lets you bypass lockpicking completely and frees up a lot of [[SkillscoresAndPerks skillpoints]] that way. Once you [[OneStatToRuleThemAll powerlevel your magic stat]] (which isn't all that hard) you won't have problems ever again. The icing on the cake is that the Guardians are also one of the easier factions to join up with, making their skillset even more attractive.

* SequelDifficultyDrop: The easiest game in the ''Risen'' (and also ''Gothic'') series, ''Risen 3'' is vastly more generous to the player in terms of both EXP and money rewards, has easier to grasp combat mechanics than its predecessors, and gives the player an AI-companion with a potent healing spell in the first hour of the game, making it the most forgiving game in this franchise.

* SequelDifficultyDrop: By far the easiest game in the ''Risen'' (and also ''Gothic'') series, ''Risen 3'' is vastly more generous to the player in terms of both EXP and money rewards, has easier combat mechanics than all its predecessors, and even gives the player an AI-companion with a potent healing spell in the first hour of the game, making it the by far most forgiving game in this franchise.

* GameBreaker: Guardians in Risen 3 can become ridiculously powerful. * QuicksandBox: A big problem with this game is that it gives you tons of stuff to do at the very beginning, even though you're in no way equipped or leveled enough for them. It also gives you not much backstory about the Titans, the Titan Lords etc. which is problematic if you're new to the Risen franchise. Ironically, these are the same mistakes ''VideoGame/{{Gothic}} 3'' made.

* MagnificentBastard: Garcia. [[spoiler: He and his pirates kill Commander Corrientes and his soldiers, hide their bodies, steal their clothes and impersonate them. He convinces the natives of being their ally and even fools {{the Hero}} into doing the dirty work for him.]]
