* GoddamnBats: Zombies. They are everywhere and unless you shoot them in the head, they soak up your ammunition. A room full of them will deprive an inaccurate shooter of most of his ammunition. If you start bleeding, they swarm on you like sharks. And of course, they can infect you, which is a death sentence if you don't have an anti-virus. Fortunately, they only show a preference towards the closest bleeding human, U.S.S or [=SpecOps=].

** The faces of Jill and Carlos have [[OffModel changed]]. Fans of them are ''not'' happy.

** The Super Tyrant bosses for spec-ops. Up to ''[[OhCrap four]]'' super tyrants at one time, along with the typical zombie mob. [[ItGotWorse Even worse]], these tyrants have been speed-buffed and are each legitimate LightningBruisers. One of the few points in the game where you can just get stun-locked to death.

* AdultFear: The concept of the EMP devices. They basically shut down all forms of communication and electronics and they're being set up in the power plant of Raccoon City. Now think of this; what if you were a parent in Raccoon City; your kid went off to school and then a zombie apocalypse sprang out of nowhere. You try and get in touch with them, but your cell phone isn't working! Worse yet; what if your house was invaded by said undead with no hopes to call the police for help or if your house was on fire and you couldn't contact the fire department. Ugh, it's just hellish.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Compared to how quick and dangerous he was in ''ResidentEvil3'', Nemesis is a bit disappointing in ''ORC'', apparently content to stomp around slowly while firing his minigun.
** The fight with two Mr X, if you know what you're doing. (its a bullfight boss with two bulls and aim for the head)
* CompleteMonster: USS Command could definately qualify. First they actually blame the outbreak in Raccoon City on Delta Team (when clearly the blame can be more squarely placed on Birkin or HUNK's team whichever you prefer to choose) and then goes on to leave them for dead after a string of events that clearly isn't their fault. He does offer them a second chance for evac, but by then even Delta Team isn't so easy to trust them. Additionally, many of the orders he gives (destroying the Power Plant, killing police and soldiers) would doubtlessly make the Outbreak worse.
** Nicholai may be a BadAss, but he actually [[BeyondTheImpossible may come across as this more than USS Command]]! First the guy is clearly a PsychoForHire that [[ForTheEvulz takes pleasure]] in [[BadBoss screwing over his own teammates and leaving them to die at the mauls of zombies]] , setting up booby traps for USS which include a room full of [[DemonicSpiders Lickers]] and even Zombies strapped with explosives that he calls his[[MemeticMutation "little contraptions"]], shoots down a helicopter pilot for the team (adding to the RunningGag in the series of helicopter pilots ALWAYS dying in the games), and then goes on to screw up the team plans' even further. And worst of all, [[spoiler: he lives and gets away with it all]].
** Arguably applies to Delta Team as well. Aside from just working for Umbrella's assasination unit, their actions in game (especially by destroying the power plant to cut off communications) exacerbated the problem and more likely than not caused the deaths of numerous civilians. [[spoiler: Their last minute HeelFaceTurn would curtail this, but if the player chooses to kill Leon and Claire and kidnap Sherry for Umbrella instead, that goes out the window.]]
* DemonicSpiders: Holy Shit, Hunters and Crimson Heads. Both are extremely fast and will without mercy pin you down and claw at you until you're dead. It doesn't help that Hunters in this game have armored backs so you have to attack them from the front.
* EasterEgg: Surprisingly for an action oriented game, there's a few easter eggs. One prime example is in the early Raccoon City stages praticularly in City Hall. Look at some of the paintings on the wall. Hey, isn't that [[ResidentEvilCodeVeronica Veronica Ashford]]? Yep, the Ashford family portraits can be found in the city. You can even encounter Alfred Ashford's in one of the rooms. Makes little sense, but kinda cool nevertheless.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: HUNK of course who actually [[BeyondTheImpossible manages to be even more badass in this game then he ever was in the series before]].
** Vector became this well before the game even came out. It certainly helps he was trained by HUNK himself and looks a good deal like him (with the gas mask). Hell he's the most composed member of the team and says pretty badass stuff too.

Despite wearing gas masks, a good deal of Lupo and Four Eyes facial features can be seen and they're quite easy on the eyes. Not to mention Lupo [[{{HellBentForLeather}} wears skin tight leather]]. Bertha's face is completely covered, but some of the [[EuropeansAreKinky lines]] [[FetishFuel she says]] , how [[{{Dominatrix}} excited and eager she becomes when she sees her situation like a game]] and her accent make her just as sexy as the other two.
** HUNK seems to be this for female players mostly based on what a complete BadAss he is.
* HighOctaneNightmareFuel: When a player becomes infected, the screen goes trippy and blue and you are forced to endure the slow and heavy breathing of your character as they slowly become a zombie. It's not a pleasant sound.
** Oh that bizzare thing in the background in the main menu? It looks like some kind of Licker fetus. Ugh....gross....
** [[YourMileageMayVary YMMV]] , but something about [[spoiler: the screen fading to black just before whichever character your playing as shoots Claire in the head [[KickTheDog right in front of Sherry Birkin]] should you choose to execute Leon]] gave this troper chills.
** Vector's unquie "Active Camoflauge" ability that renders him nearly invisible. Something about not seeing a guy ready to plunge a knife into your throat before death is kinda unnerving.
** USS Command. [[BadBoss Unforgiving]], cruel, quick to lose his temper, extremely psychotic, and [[spoiler: '''WILL''' [[CompleteMonster leave you for dead in a zombie infested city to fend for yourself like a common citizen for being unsuccessful in your mission even if it's not in the slightest your fault]].]] Imagine if you were a rookie member of this team under HIS command in a zombie infested city and he'd [[spoiler: cast you aside like garbage for a fault not your own]]. Yeah pretty unnerving!
** The new NE-Beta parasite B.O.Ws and Parasite Zombies exclusive to this game. This bug is essentially the adult form of the same parasite put into the NEMESIS to make it under Umbrella's control and follow simple orders. It's pretty gross and creppy by itself, but then it crawls on the nearest zombie's back, ''BITES OFF ITS HEAD''' and then commandeers it's body like a robotic suit. Oh, and there's more than one. *shutters*
** Hey, remember what a total pain and [[NightmareFuel terrifying]] enemy Mr. X was in ResidentEvil2? Well guess what, you get to fight two of them....'''AT THE SAME TIME'''. [[SarcasmMode Doesn't that sound like fun?]]

* LargeHam: Nicholai really enjoys chewing the scenery during your fights with him. His thrill from being completely psychotic and evil and the sheer lengths he goes to try and kill you (he straps motion sensor bombs to zombies) makes him steal every scene he's in.
** Bertha and Spectre, but '''far''' more prominent with Spectre whom chews the scenery like it's made of ham every chance he gets and just can't get enough of his elipses and extending his lines as far as they can go no matter what the situation or subject at hand.

* MostAnnoyingSound: UGH, in the level where you need to retrieve the EMP devices after Nicholai shoots down the hospital carrying them, these devices make a really annoying garbled/scratching sound that will drive you nuts if you don't find it quick enough.

* ThatOneBoss: Already people are stating that the double Mr. X Tyrant boss fight is the most difficult boss battle in the game. Sure it can be less hectic with a full team of players, but try and battle them both with no help; hope your controller doesn't break easily because you'll be throwing it around after the countless game overs you get.

** On any given preview of the game, you'll find multiple comments decrying the fact that ''Operation Raccoon City'' is radically different than the previous games in the series. You'll also find numerous comments praising the ability to move with your weapon drawn, so it's hardly universal.
