* DudeNotFunny: The cab driver who left Owen Templeton stranded in the desert "to die" over the coin toss, what makes it worse is that he probably figured he was being ''[[CruelMercy merciful]]''.
** The entire heart subplot. In which we see it get covered with dirt, squashed, and chewed on. It was played for laughs, but the dying person desperately waiting for that heart would be saying "What the hell Audience!?" for laughing. The entire scene was incredibly cringe worthy.

* EsotericHappyEnding: As noted under ShaggyDogStory on the main page, the [[WAFF feel-good]] and [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments heartwarming]] ending scene, complete with LaserGuidedKarma for Sinclair and his buddies, probably won't be as happy for all involved a while after the credits stop rolling.

* DesignatedVillain: The movie suggests (and one of the deleted scenes outright states) that Donald Sinclair and the other millionaires are horrible people for putting the contestants through so much just for their own amusement. But none of the contestants were forced into it, and they were given full information about the rules and stakes of the contest, so any suffering they go through is the result of their own decision to pursue the money no matter what. Given that, it's hard to see what makes Sinclair worse than anyone else who sponsors a sporting event. [[spoiler: Or why it's fair that Sinclair and all the millionaires have much of their money effectively stolen at the end of the film]].
** There's little doubt that Sinclair and his pals all enjoy manipulating people for kicks, and that's probably what we're supposed to disagree with...
*** Yeah, because we're supposed to view a guy that gave them a better chance at $2 million dollars than they would ever get anywhere in Vegas as a horrible horrible person. That makes sense.
*** And it really doesn't help that the money is actually there, just as Sinclair said it would be.
**** The problem with Sinclair and all the other millionaires is that they essentially play on people's desperation and lack of the same good fortune for their own amusement, as well as essentially just viewing ''real people'' as nothing more than horses or dogs in a race. They may play by their own rules, but the lack of regard they have for these people's real lives border on psychopathic. He's not doing this to better their lives, and as seen in the ending and his reaction to the charity event, nor does he really care about them. He's reducing them to animals simply because he finds it fun, and a measly $2 million means nothing to him in the grand scheme of things. It's similar to forcing a homeless man to do tricks for 10 bucks.

The song is called \"Libiamo ne\' lieti calici\"; IM Db had a page for the Rat Race soundtrack (it is the source).

** In The Hall Of The Mountain King - played while Duane and Blaine Cody sabotage an entire airport.
** Ride Of The Valkyries - a remix is played with Tracy Faucet chasing a truck down a highway in a helicopter.
** Some other piece of classical music is played while the Cody brothers pursue a man in a hot air balloon.

Fridge has its own tab

* FridgeLogic:
** At the end of the film the billionaires get tricked into giving away tens of millions of dollars apiece, and act like they are ruined. In fact Sinclair's Casino would probably make that in a few days and the amount the billionaires donate would be little more than a tax write off and great publicity.
** There's also the fact that apparently, a high-speed train runs straight into Silver City train station, and stops there just to throw off Enrico.
* FridgeHorror:
** Not very horrific, but when the Cody brothers busted up Las Vegas' entire airport's flying system, no plane could take off from ''or'' land at Las Vegas for the best part of the day. They just crippled airports all around the USA and possibly the world. It's a little bit scary...
** And that poor person in El Paso who's going to get THAT heart...

** It matters little. People like Sinclair HATE parting with ''any'' money, and the fact that the heroes turned the tables on them for their douchebaggery also adds insult to injury.

* TooDumbToLive: The skeleton that slides out of one of the cars in the Squirrel Lady's graveyard of cars. Possibly. Baring some crippling injury brought on by the crash, the occupant never bothered to get out of the car and try to get back to civilization?
