* NightmareFuel: Dark Specter brainwashing Astronema after her HeelFaceTurn. It worked so well at turning her evil, it resulted in a XanatosGambit on her part that nearly killed him THAT HE NEVER FOUND OUT ABOUT.

** Also in most stories where Karone becomes a ranger [[PowerRangersLostGalaxy as opposed to canon]] she will usually being the purple ranger based on the color of her honorary ranger outfit.

* TheWoobie: [[BadAssAngster Andros]], [[StoicWoobie Ecliptor]], and [[MinionWithAnFInEvil Waspicable]].

* Jerkass: Carlos in "Carlos on Call". He gets easily angered at a little girl when she finds out that he's a Power Ranger and begins to blackmail him. Anyone of the Power Rangers would have gotten frustrated at her, sure, but Carlos snaps and yells at her, calling her a spoiled brat.

* FirstInstallmentWins: A strange variation. While ''MightyMorphinPowerRangers'' is what people think of the franchise as a whole, '''every''' season after ''in Space'' has essentially been trying to copy the magic that made this season work. Some have managed better than others, but one major advantage this season has had over the others is the returning characters and strong [[MythologyGag mythology]] and [[ContinuityNod continuity]] nods. The standalone team, standalone season format makes it more difficult to escalate the action and develop the characters.

* TheWoobie: Waspicable in "A Wasp with a Heart".

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: The Power Rangers teamed up with the Ninja Turtles. And ''it sucked''. [[YourMileageMayVary Then again]], some people actually thought the crossover was pretty cool, and certainly better than ''all'' of ''The Next Mutation''.
** Also [[spoiler: the second half of the season finale - Zordon is still being held captive, Angel Grove has been overrun by Astronema's forces, all potential aid from off planet has been nullified, the Rangers have lost a large part of their arsenal thanks to the destruction of two Megazords, and the citizens of Angel Grove - led by Bulk & Skull - have just stood up & proclaimed that they were all Power Rangers to buy time for the real Rangers to arrive. Surely, this troper wasn't the only disappointed that the "We're the Power Rangers!" reveal by the Space Rangers was just that - the Space Rangers. How much ''more'' awesome would that scene had been if not just the Space Rangers, but [[PowerRangersTurbo Justin]], all five [[PowerRangersZeo Zeo Rangers]] and the [[MightyMorphingPowerRangers original five]] had turned up for the final battle, and ''then'' all morphed? Especially when you remember that this was supposed to be the end of the franchise...]]
*** [[spoiler: To be fair, most of the original actors (i.e. Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost) wanted nothing to do with the series anymore, and bringing back the Zeo or original powers (the latter of which were destroyed) without explanation would have created a plot hole. Still, the former team from Turbo plus Justin turning up to assist in civilian form would have been great.]]

** In "Wasp with a Heart," a good-hearted monster was shot and wounded by another monster, while shielding Cassie from the blast as she'd been overpowered and was helpless . When Cassie spots the injured monster, who she had grown to feel sorry for, in immense pain she turns down-right scray. At that moment, Cassie could have probably taken down Ecliptor and Astronema by herself unmorphed.

** In "Wasp with a Heart," a good-hearted monster was shot and wounded by another monster, while sheilding Casse from the blast as she'd been overpowered and was helpless . When Cassie spots the injured monster, who she had grown to feel sorry for, in immense pain she turns down-right scray. At that moment, Cassie could have probrably taken down Ecliptor and Astronema by herself unmorphed.

** Let's face it, the first CurbStompBattle between the Space and PsychoRangers was absolutely awesome. And then TJ actually uses strategy to fight back.

** TJ, having been demoted from Red Ranger to Blue Ranger, was guaranteed this slot.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: "When Push Comes to Shove" and it's 9/11 analogues. The episode featured Cassie and a guy she's on a date with trapped at the top of the tallest building in Angel Grove as a beast is trying to knock it to the ground, trying to send Angel Grove up in smoke.

** Justin's return episode helped ebb a lot of the anger at his character, as despite everything he represented (an attempt to appeal to the kids) he was still a Ranger, a member of the team and there was some genuine emotion between all of them.

He started out in ''Turbo'' as a TotallyRadical ReplacementScrappy for Alpha 5, and the show surprisingly redeemed him by making him even ''more'' of a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute, to the point where he's a straight {{Expy}} of 5. VocalEvolution played a big role, trading in the annoying [[BigApplesauce Noo]] [[AmericanAccents Yawk]] accent of Catherine Battistone to [[CuteShotaroBoy cute little brother]][[CrossDressingVoices -ish]] vocals of WendeeLee.

* HilariousInHindsight: Astronema's "I wouldn't want to be a Power Ranger anyway!" Numerous production issues resulted in the actress becoming the Pink Ranger halfway through the next season.
* HoYay: Andros does this with both Carlos and Zhane.

* GoodTroiEpisode: For some, "True Blue to the Rescue" qualifies as a good Justin episode.
