In Alaska, an aspiring chef named Emily shows off her cooking using [=YouTube=] while a creepy cousin hangs out with her friend Nate. Emily's family lives off the grid, mainly by raising chickens, growing produce and hunting for game. [[spoiler:The cousin claims that there's a strange beast in the woods, and Emily's family members start disappearing one by one. Emily while making more cooking videos to deal with the stress gets suspicious of her cousin, who was with her mother when the latter disappeared. Despite her setting up surveillance cameras to catch him in the act of doing ''something,'', she only comes across a puddle of blood and broken glass. Eventually Emily, her younger brother, and Nate are left so she drives her remaining family to Nate's house. When she wakes up the next morning in the guest room, she finds a frying pan on her bed and a note. Then she sees ground meat roasting on the stove, and meatloaf in the oven. Her cousin's laptop is open, and she clicks on it. A series of video reveal Nate and her cousin tracking and hunting her parents, and grabbing her brother while the latter was sleeping the night before. Nate calmly talks about how to prepare meat for a good meal. Emily starts screaming as she hears her cousin laughing in the real world. Nate and her cousin had beaten up, tortured, killed and chopped up her family. Probably Emily gets eaten up next when she tries to fight back.]] It's lampshaded when Nick calls himself a sadistic bastard for thinking of this story on the spot.

** After his DareToBeBadass speech in the Lasagna Cat video, telling people to aim for BetterThanCanon and to do something better than the original, Nick has reviewed two pieces that fit the bill: Petscop and CatGhost.

* NightmareFuel: Many of the works looked at contain healthy doses of this, but one coming directly from Night Mind itself comes from "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared: Explained," where true to the series' fashion, Mikey the Microphone starts pushing Nick's [[BerserkButton Berserk Buttons]] through insults; by the time Nick gets to Episode 5, he sounds genuinely ''pissed.'' Considering said insults are based on [[RealitySubtext real criticisms Nick was worried about receiving for making the video,]] many viewers became genuinely worried for Nick's well being.
