With how long the Dota 2 comics have gone on, and Jo adding a comment pending attribute to his site, the rage stopped and turned into silence. When Angie came back, however, he agreed that he had done to much DOTA 2, and would focus on games that his fanbase would like to see comics made of.

* GrowingTheBeard: Originally started off completely textless in an attempt to be the antithesis of ''Webcomic/CtrlAltDel'', and to the detriment of its humor. Because Administrivia/TropesAreNotBad, once the strip became a lot more lenient with allowing text (and as a result shifting from the emphasis on [=TF2=]-tan {{Moe}} fanservice towards general gaming humor), it became a lot more consistently funny.

* MemeticMutation: Back when readers could add notes to specific areas of a comic (which feature was eventually removed due to circumstances beyond the author's control, taking all the readers' notes with it), every comic would have at least one person put a "spy here!" photo note on some area of empty space, nearly every pointed finger would have a photo note of "[[FingerGun POW!]] Haha!" and anything with a female would have a photo note that lays claim to the female (or just part of their body). Lines from the Meet the Team videos were also commonplace, and to a lesser extent, "Nerf Now, now with more trope.". ** This trope continues as the comic keeps calling the entire series "Brawl", needless to say, Jo knows nothing about them. Thankfully by the time ''Ultimate'' came out, they've caught on.
** [[http://www.nerfnow.com/comic/1833 This strip]] received criticism for not recognizing both Zenyatta and Bastion from ''Videogame/{{Overwatch}}'' as Omnics based on the game's lore. Though considering that Bastion was somewhat-naivete, let alone speak, about Engie's Fanservice-laden subtext, the author may have meant Zenyatta as more "human-like" rather than ignorance in general.

** A short storyline had Samus show up to the bar desperate for a job after having been completely rejected by Nintendo. Not long after, E3 revealed that Samus would be returning for VideoGame/MetroidPrime4.

* WhatAnIdiot: When Engie goes to star in her own game, she goes to [[VideoGame/{{Skullgirls}} Minette]] for advice. She does this on the grounds that Minette is still just an NPC, having not gotten enough fan votes to be added to ''Skullgirls'' as a playable character, and would be a good example of what ''[[AntiRoleModel not]]'' to do. While that might be a good idea, [[http://www.nerfnow.com/comic/1176 actually telling her that is not]].
