For starters, she tells her brother to get a job and a life of his own despite the fact that ''she'' [[{{Hypocrite}} doesn't have a job at all]] and took a few seasons until she grew out of her shell, whereas she expects Zephyr to do it instantly. Needless to say, fans were divided on whether it was appropriate for her to teach the brutally realistic moral of the story despite her being the nicest character on the show.

* HiddenDepths: Fluttershy has apparently been assertive to Zephyr his entire life, to the point where he's not surprised in the least that Fluttershy is making him contribute in exchange for room and board. It's an interesting contrast to the ExtremeDoormat behavior she's displayed for the previous five seasons.

For some,]] Zephyr Breeze [[ThisLoserIsYou resonated a little]] ''[[TearJerker too]]'' [[NightmareFuel close to home]], and fans weren't flattered about the insensitivity. Once shown in action, most of those fears were quelled (though some were still sore about the portrayal).

While some fans found the idea quite interesting, since he's the antithesis of CoolBigBro-type characters like Shining Armor and Big Macintosh, others are wary of the possible negative stereotype the show is giving him. And when the episode finally did air, he only became even more of this when some fans just found him to be an emotionally manipulative ManChild, while others ultimately came to see him as a legitimately troubled JerkassWoobie (especially during his eventual GoMadFromTheIsolation scene in the Everfree). That said, it is really hard not hate Zephyr Breeze since he is totally unlikeable and a lazy asshole unable to do everything for most of the episode. Granted, [[IntendedAudienceReaction he was meant to be unlikable]], but for some, Zephyr went beyond the point of LoveToHate.

Thankfully, it seems that a preview, which shows him in action, may have calmed some of those fears. Unfortunately, though, the episode itself ended up selling him as completely annoying, lazy, and manipulative to many fans.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Zephyr, in spades. Had he merely been a lazy ShrinkingViolet, then he likely would've still been fine to most fans. But instead, he's both actively overbearing and a conscious ManChild and ManipulativeBastard against all of his potential employers, thus making his aforementioned DespairEventHorizon scene in the Everfree just come across as LaserGuidedKarma to many viewers instead.
