* BrokenBase: This episode, for focusing on romance. Some don't like it because they feel it violates Creator/LaurenFaust's stated intention of the show being NoHuggingNoKissing[[note]]''which was never true; Rarity was interested in romance right from the start''[[/note]]. Others don't mind since it illustrates the general "BeYourself" moral well. Still others consider it a non-issue due to RuleOfFunny, and the fact that he doesn't end up with either of them anyway.

Most people who watch the show to this point wouldn\'t say Pinkie inflating to a balloon is a BLAM. Otherwise, almost every episode would have this trope on their page.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: At the beginning of the episode, Pinkie's head swells up like a balloon and she floats away on it. No comment is made upon it, but it's very strange to those who don't know Pinkie Pie all that well.

* UnpopularPopularCharacter: Trenderhoof describes fan-favorite MemeticBystander Derpy as "unappreciated" in-universe.
** This could be a meta-joke, seeing as this was one of Derpy's first cameos after Derpygate (where the Pegasus's sequence in "The Last Roundup" was retroactively censored due to complaints) led to her not appearing at all in Season 3 aside from the finale. It can be seen as a mild TakeThat against the {{Executive Meddl|ing}}ers, since several of the DHX staff are known to like her.

This isn\'t a YMMV, and the example is a Square Peg Round Trope. The trope is for when the target of sarcasm finds it funny himself, e.g. if Spike were to mock Rarity\'s Innocently Insensitive behavior and she were to laugh at herself.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: While Rarity is crying to him, Spike once again demonstrates MediumAwareness and acknowledgement of his ButtMonkey status, ''and'' manages to deliver one of the funniest lines of the episode without even opening his mouth.

Borders on ridiculous.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: After Rarity and Applejack realize how ridiculous their situation became, it abruptly cuts to the festival itself going off without a hitch, Rarity delivering [[BeYourself the moral]], and the episode just... ends. [[https://twitter.com/joshhaber/status/432182235714691072 Lampshaded by the episode's writer.]] In fact, it could be said that "A Perfectly Good Plot" was wasted just by virtue of being crammed into a twenty-two minute episode. Rarity does mention that getting the event up and running in time turned out to be one of the hardest things she’s ever done, avoiding (at least with a HandWave) a fairly glaring PlotHole.

That\'s not what the trope is, the above is at least lampshaded.

** What's that? You wanted to see a "Spike gets jealous" subplot? ''Too bad.''

Just thought a bit of perspective could be added—it was an ambitious plot for a short episode.
