* Ms. Marvel can get to this status when built well. By equipping her Bruiser alt. she draws AI blasters to her, but after using her L9 Absorb Energy power all energy type attacks (aka every blaster and a few more heroes like War Machine) will heal her every time the AI goes for her. This allows her to completely shut down many of the frequent blaster focused teams and pull total party kills on her own.Just sit back and laugh as the poor AI makes sure Carol tanks the entire team.

** On the other side of the tier list for [=PvP=], we have Emma Frost. Before her nerf, she has an attack that at first does low damage but causes massive damage if the opponent attacks not to mention it bypasses counters and protect, a move that stuns the opponent and removes debuffs, a buff that removes debuffs and give the character that was selected a boost of stats, and a [=AoE=] that is pretty powerful for one that also weakens the opponents and can also bypass counters and protects. While many would agree that after the nerf, she's merely above average in her Modern uniform, her Phoenix Five uniform pretty much keeps her on the top tier in [=PvP=] thanks to it pretty much working the same way as it did on most of her former abilities.

** The Human Torch is also a bane in PVP. Fun to use, frustrating to fight against. He is immune to ground attacks, is healed by fire attacks, counters melee moves with 'Burning' status, has a very high evasion, and massive damage potential with his Fireball attack. The Annihilus version even amps up his counters and buffs throughout the battle.

* CharacterTiers: Some heroes are definitely stronger than others, especially in PvP. The topmost tier (heroes who show up frequently if the player has them) is usually Captain America, Emma Frost, Human Torch, Mockingbird, and Scarlet Witch. Bottommost tier (heroes you almost never see used) is usually Nightcrawler, Spider-Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Wolverine, and Luke Cage. The spaces in-between, though, are a bit more open to debate, especially since the metagame changes at different character levels and Playdom sometimes comes along and buffs weaker characters up to higher tiers.
* GameBreaker: PvP is highly problematic in general, and you see very few varying strategies.

* GameBreaker: Formerly, World War II Captain America (as well as the Tactician class in general) and his shield of death. Cap is still a highly powerful character, but the recent boost to Infiltrators, the Tactician counter-class, has levelled the playing field greatly
** Mockingbird. Decent base stats, can change classes and thus gain multiple class-advantage buffs, can gain turns when changing classes, inflict multiple debuffs, guarantee crit and hit, deadly crits, and by far the best exploit attack in the game (Mocking Blow). Great in PvE, one of the singular most complained-about things in [[PlayerVersusPlayer PvP]] for her ability to nuke whole teams on her own. This, [[BadassNormal with a pair of batons]].

** PvP is highly problematic in general, and you see very few varying strategies. In the lower levels you have a lot of Future Foundation members in general except Mr. Fantastic, with a strong bias towards Torch and Spidey. Scarlet Witch, and Avengers uniforms are also more rampant. At the upper echelons, be prepared to face a multitude of Phoenix 5 Emma Frosts, Phoenix 5 or Modern Colossus and the aforementioned WW2 Cap and Mockingbird. The Agent will almost always have a Quantum Jumper (extra turns for everybody), Power of Four (for even more turns), Coulson's Revenge (humongous damage and grants extra attack chances) and Phoenix weapons (stealthy).
** On the villains' end, Dormammu and Vapor. Vector and X-Ray to a lesser extent.
* PowerCreep: New releases, at a point in time (and even now, to some) seem to appear solely as a counter to a previously overpowered strategy. The game, in 7 months, has gone from favouring damage dealers (War Machine, Thor, Hulk) to buff/debuff reliant heroes (Mockingbird, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch), team protectors (Captain America, Colossus) and now attackers with stealthy/unpunishable attacks and debuff removers (Emma Frost, Invisible Woman, Magik).
