* TaintedByThePreview: Fans were ''incredibly'' miffed at the price point Creator/SquareEnix announced for ''Wai Wai Home Meeting!'', with the total cost of all DownloadableContent adding up to '''over $300!''' Considering the game is literally just a port of the arcade game, upset fans are baffled at how they could get away with charging such an absurd value for all of the same content that you get on an arcade machine.

* CasualCompetitiveConflict: Minor compared to other games, but it's still present. Some players, often veteran rhythm game players, carefully optimize their teams for maximum score output during events, and attempt to go for as close to All Perfect as possible that they'll even consider any run done with a Perfect Lock illegitimate. Other players are [[JustHereForGodzilla only in it for the cute outfits and collecting cards]].

*** Don't forget G-Senjou no Cinderella -- even on Hard, it is just as bad a clusterfuck as Watashitachi wa Mirai no Hana above. Part of the difficulty is that it has one section that's entirely spoken, making it harder to follow along with the music.

** Hajimari Road is extremely fast, which makes its beatmap look like something out of a BulletHell game, especially during the chorus where it constantly throws difficult patterns in rapid succession. Clearing it is a true test of dexterity.

* JunkRare: There are many OffModel cards in the game, especially from early in the game's run, that players instantly trade for stickers. Most of µ's initial UR cards are frequent targets for this.

** The Perfect Lock ability, which turns all Goods and Greats into Perfects for a short period of time. The divisive parts are that the ability stacks with multiple cards, meaning you can extend it throughout the entire song, and its effect nullifies the "Good" outcome as the ComboBreaker it would be otherwise. Many rhythm game purists consider it a GameBreaker and refuse to acknowledge any Full Combo run that uses the ability even once, while others appreciate the ability for making it easier to get the Full Combo Loveca Stone bonus.

* CharacterRerailment: Yoshiko in Story Mode. Despite her {{Flanderization}} in the anime, many scenes in the game play on her insecurities and desire to fit in behind her {{chuunibyou}} side, aspects that her original CharacterFocus episode initially brought up.

* {{Narm}}: Quite a few cards have been released of Riko with a more smug, playful expression than usual for her character. One could justify it by her gaining more confidence as part of Guilty Kiss, except that when partnered, she still has the same shy, uncertain comments as with the rest of her portraits. However, [[https://np.reddit.com/r/SchoolIdolFestival/comments/70aw4q/thought_that_riko_ur_looked_familiar/ one card]] crosses the line into NarmCharm for many due to the sheer amusing image of Riko acting like ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog''.

* AudienceAlienatingPremise: A RhythmGame where getting a perfect performance isn't enough for the best rank?! That said, the game still has many fans, who are mostly into the game for the CostumePorn cards and the many side stories they can unlock for the characters.

* MostAnnoyingSound: The noise made when a note is [[ComboBreaker "Good"]]. It sounds suspiciously like glass shattering, just to symbolize how fragile your full combo is. It's even worse if it's a star note, which damages you too.

** Sachiko Tanaka, a Normal-rarity character, has a sizable fanbase due to her ''{{chuunibyou}}'' antics in her cards and Side Stories.
** Setsuna Yuki and Karin Asaka consistently compete with each other in the Nijigasaki polls; Setsuna is considered to have an excellent design and voice, while Karin's mature design and [[MsFanservice assets]] have won over a lot of people.
%% Among the Normal cards: Ousaka Shizuku, Aikawa Ryou, Shirase Koyuki, Kurobane Sakura and Sakuya, Saotome Yukari and Ichinose Marika to name a few. The hilarious part about Shizuku being so popular is that she (her first Smile card) is one of the most common, and [[JokeCharacter worst]], cards.

* InternetBackdraft:
** Fans were very, very upset to discover that [=KLab=] had censored out many references to lesbian relationships (including switching the FeaturelessProtagonist's gender from female to male). Reactions have ranged from ceasing purchase of Loveca Stones to outright uninstalling the game from their devices. [[LGBTFanbase A large portion of the fanbase comprises those in the LGBTQ+ community]], which is why fan reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. [=KLab=] apologized for the localization and eventually did revise the script, but there are people still upset that the censorship happened in the first place.
** The announcement that [=KLab=] EN would be skipping the first Medley Festival (due to problems with the game update, which contained the data necessary for the event) and going straight to Score Match 15 seemed to be leading to this... but thankfully, they pulled through the second time around and the event was released as planned.
** In general, there has been quite a bit of backlash from players on the EN server in regards to maintenance. It isn't uncommon for emergency maintenance to take place during an event (often at the very beginning), and players will often lose LP if they're playing right before the maintenance period starts. Fans have also been upset with numerous technical errors that updates have introduced, especially an update that caused major timing issues during live shows. It was a lot worse on the KR server, which was outsourced instead of run by [=KLab=], to the point that [=KLab=] didn't renew the other company's license and folded KR players into EN -- which, while still buggy, actually works in comparison.
** When it comes to the card's artwork:
*** A good deal of Chizuko's female fans are not pleased with the official artists for drawing her in overly sexualized outfits and poses, especially in the early cards.
*** Jennifer and Emma Verde also have this problem, as both are quite busty, and the artists love to show off their assets. To make matters worse, while Jennifer and Chizuko always look happy in even their most revealing outfits, Emma's earliest cards featured her looking uncomfortable and trying to hold her skirt down to avoid flashing the viewer.
** Half of the [=YohaRiko=] fans are not happy that the Punk Rock set's Riko is used as an SR instead of the UR to complete the game's first proper Yoshiko-Riko UR combo. Meanwhile, ''some'' of the fans are upset that Ruby [[IncorruptiblePurePureness of all people]], is the UR of the set. Later averted after Riko is revealed to be the second UR for the China Dress set released in Sept. 15, 2018, completing the [=YohaRiko=] set.
*** If one made researches of how nuns work, One must realize that someone might have been "against" the pairing in the November 19, 2018 release of the nun-themed cards for Riko and Yoshiko.

** After it was revealed in May 2015 that [=KLab=] had fuddled with the English translation to strip out references to same-sex relationships and change the FeaturelessProtagonist's implied gender from female to male, fans were very, ''very'' angry at the whitewashing of the characters' sexualities, with many refusing to buy any more Lovecas (if they were buying them) or outright uninstalling the game. One month later, [=KLab=] put out a patch that retranslated the {{Bowdlerise}}d lines; many fans were elated to see the revised script and came back to the game.
