* BetterThanCanon: Widely considered to be vastly superior to the game it is based off of. [[ApprovalOfGod It even impressed the King's Quest creators so much]] [[AscendedFanon it has now replaced the original in terms of the series' timeline.]]

* CompleteMonster: The Father in the FanRemake starts off merely as an EvilChancellor who sets Graham up to head to Kolyma. Two of his lieutenants have taken up residence there (one of which had been holding Valanice captive out of petty spite and had killed other women who had aroused her ire). Graham, being Graham, is able to dodge their traps [[spoiler: and helps convince one to leave]]. After returning home with Valanice, Graham exposes the EvilChancellor who abruptly goes OneWingedAngel, levels a deadly curse, and vanishes. The flash-forward scene during the Air Gem test has his showing up at Graham's darkest hour to gloat, the {{Fanon}} dialogue indicating that he had another of his mooks kidnap and enslave Graham's kid for sixteen years, set the three-headed dragon on Daventry to ruin it, and then forced Graham to sacrifice his remaining child to it. The next part of the curse drops Graham with heart failure at a moment of triumph, and the last gets a ProphecyTwist, thankfully. Thing is, he really doesn't have it in for Graham per se. Graham just happens to be standing between him and some leftover power from Daventry's first king.

* TakeThatScrappy: In the final test for the Air Gem, you are brought to King Graham's future holding a ceremony for Connor, the main protagonist of the much contested VideoGame/KingsQuestMaskOfEternity. For those who could not stand him, they can refuse to knight him and send him home in disgrace. Noticeably, the game itself won't punish you for this and still give you the same exact amount of points. [[PetTheDog Though for those who actually did like Connor, they still have the option of knighting him and making him next in line for Daventry's throne]]. If you passed the first two questions with flying colors, you can also decide to give Connor a test, which is slaying a terrible beast... The even more maligned [[VideoGame/KingsQuestVAbsenceMakesTheHeartGoYonder Cedric the Owl]], who invites himself to Connor's ceremony, causing the elderly King Graham to draw his blade [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments and chase the damned owl himself]].

* TearJerker: The second test for the Air Gem shows Graham a glimpse of the future: namely the timeframe of ''Videogame/KingsQuestIII'', with a dragon terrorising a ruined Daventry, Alexander missing since infancy, and Rosella chosen as a HumanSacrifice for the dragon. Suddenly, [[ManBehindTheMan the Father]] shows himself to the distressed King Graham, offering him a SadisticChoice to save his only remaining child's life. While this scene is heart-wrenching enough, it becomes worse when you think about it being presented to a young, optimistic Graham: he's just at the cusp of marrying and starting a family, and now he has to live with the knowledge of the disasters that will befall his children and his kingdom, without the comfort of knowing that it will eventually turn out all right.
