* UnfortunateImplications: YMMV on this one. The North Korean forces are treated as effectively CommieNazis but the atrocities committed by their forces may be TruthInTelevision. Ironically, John Milinus actually devotes an entire level to the game about killing xenophobic Korean-hating Americans in addition to having a Korean American teammate.

** This troper did notice how the game seemed to end in (what he thinks) is the middle of the story. Homefront 2 is already in the works according to WordOfGod, so we can hope to get more character development and plot. ** The US thing is a little less Sui-ish than it might seem; the nation had been weakened by worldwide economic troubles, the States had been given autonomy, so their wasn't any real organized resistance other than in-state forces. Desertion was probably rampant, with soldiers leaving to protect their homes, even before the Mississippi was irradiated, and the KPA EMP Sat knocked out just about every electronic device on the continent.

*** On in-game newspaper notes that when Canada closed it's borders to the US (thus requiring a visa to enter), there were also new laws requiring permits for food, materials, medicine, and other supplies. The implication is that a lot of people were trying to leave the country, soldiers or otherwise.

** A dev diary makes a point of noting how the Resistance always operates in cells, so if one is compromised, they won't jeopardize the rest. This is [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covert_cell a strategic decision with a long and effective history]], most noticeable in the WW2 French Resistance.

* VillainSue: Kim Jong-Un manages to take a backwater, underdeveloped pariah of a nation and uses it to gain control of South Korean (presumably in a sufficiently subversive, non-violent manner that he credibly gets the Nobel Peace Prize for doing so), takes over several major neighboring nations, and build up the Korean army to the point that it's able to successfully take over the United States. Hell, that's [[TheDraka Draka]]-level hypercompetency right there.

* HollywoodTactics: Usually averted; shortly after Jacobs' rescue by the Resistance, the cell comes across KPA infantry on the ground, with an MG on the second floor, which is more or less right out of the playbook.
