** Moaning Myrtle, Remus Lupin and probably more.
** Draco Malfoy, considering that when he's under the most pressure in Book Six, he cries on shoulder.
** Luna. Poor, sweet Luna. Even the emotionally-inept Harry is described as feeling a combination of embarassment and pity at her good nature and cheer in the face of having no friends and being relentlessly teased.
** Merope Gaunt. Considering what we do see of her life, was it really a shock that she simply lost her will to live and just died?
** Neville can't catch a break. Rowling has it out for him - not only because of what happened to his , but the fact that in class, all magical backlashes direct back to him.
** Dobby. Just Dobby. "Dobby is used to death threats, sir. Dobby gets them five times a day at home."

to:

* CrazyAwesome: Professor Trelawney smacking down EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory: Partially justified, as there's a werewolf with her crystal balls. lot of alchemical symbolism in the series, including character's names. The problems arise when certain parts of the fandom take the symbols, use them to support their theories, and said theories are entirely wrong. The usual response upon realizing this is to blame Rowling for being wrong, and wistfully talk about how the series would've been better.

Added DiffLines:

* HilariousInHindsight: The allegations of Satanism were made funny by FanFic/MyImmortal.

Added DiffLines:

* JerkassWoobie: If you had a quarter for every time a character who initially appeared to be just a straight-up asshole actually was a good person deep down, or how often a woobie turned venomous, you could conceivably rival Rowling's fortune.

Added DiffLines:

* NarmCharm: WordOfGod confirms that in the Potterverse, the Quibbler is "appreciated for its unintentional humour."
* NoSuchThingAsBadPublicity: In real life, Harry Potter got publicity just for being banned in some places for promoting witchcraft. And in the story, this is echoed a few times; for example, in Chamber of Secrets, Lockhart is very happy when a fight breaks out at a book signing for his latest book.
** And then averted in the story when the Daily Prophet, Wizarding England's primary newspaper, does a massive (and successful) smear campaign on Harry and Dumbledore.
*** Played straight in the fifth book, where the Ministry of Magic's propaganda campaign against Harry's story that Voldemort has returned is reversed when Umbridge bans a copy of The Quibbler that tells Harry's story about his encounter with Voldemort. The issue is then sold out and must be reprinted due to curiosity about why it was banned.

Moved Continuity Lockout from the main film page to here.

Added DiffLines:

* ContinuityLockout: Because of time constraints, much of the backstory gets cut, leaving many viewers who haven't read the books scratching their heads.
** In the third film, the simple fact that Sirius is innocent and was framed by Pettigrew is explained in the most confusing manner possible. This sentence probably just explained it more clearly than any line in the entire movie.
** In the beginning of Deathly Hallows, Harry is holding a fragment of the Two-way mirror Sirius gave him. It was never shown in the films how he got it.
*** It seems highly probable that this was in the original cut of Order of the Pheonix, but thanks to Executive Meddling it was cut for the theatrical version.

Moved these from the Main Film page to here.

* EverybodyRemembersTheStripper: The frequently asked topic of conversation in most press interviews for DeathlyHallows Part One was the filming of the Horcrux visions of topless Harry and Hermione kissing.

* HilariousInHindsight: Cedric Diggory makes his entrance Twilight jumping out of a tree. Maybe he was bothered.
** After Bill gets mauled by Greyback, the narration states that he "now bore a distinct resemblance to Mad-Eye Moody. Moody is played by Brendan Gleeson. Bill is played by his son Domhnall.
** And getting back to Cedric, anti-fans of Twilight will never again be able to take his death seriously, because they just got to see Edward Cullens die.

* MemeticMutation:
** "Dobby never meant to kill! Only maim, or severely injure!" is quickly picking up steam.
** "Turn to page 394." It's due mostly to Snape fangirls finding Alan Rickman's delivery of this very random line extremely sexy. The fact that he repeats "page 394" a couple times later in the scene pushed it to full-blown meme status.

* ShipTease: Because Hermione is featured even more prominently in the films than in the books, this was kinda inevitable, but DeathlyHallows brings it to a new level with Harry and Hermione's awkward, quasi-romantic dancing.
** Despite this, the films actually started teasing Ron/Hermione earlier than the books, with the end of the second film, whereas the books didn't start until the fourth installment. The third film had several Ron/Hermione moments, although they ended up being overshadowed by Harry and Hermione's interactions during the half of the climax which they spent together.

to:

* TheWoobie: The list of Woobies in the movies pretty much correspond to the one in the book version. However Professor Trelawney gets Woobie status in OrderOfThePhoenix in the scene where she's fired by Delores Umbridge and forced to leave Hogwarts with her bags in front of the whole school. Emma Thompson's heartbreaking performance makes it an absolute TearJerker in the movie.

Added DiffLines:

* BetterOnDVD: While the movies don't make complete sense on their own, they make better sense when viewed in a marathon (esp. with the deleted scenes), especially since the installments are released one or two years apart, which adds up quite quickly. It's a bit much to expect someone who didn't rewatch the series on DVD to remember Gryffindor's sword after eight years.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** Four in Prisoner of Azkaban. First, the talking shrunken head on the Knight Bus. Second, the choir singing the witches poem from Macbeth.
** In Goblet of Fire, the students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang introduce themselves with dance.
*** It's even worse in the deleted scene, where the Hogwarts students responded by singing their school song. The Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students look reasonably uncomfortable.
** Deathly Hallows Part One had that dancing scene between Harry and Hermione.

Added DiffLines:

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Quite a few characters not given much attention in the books suddenly become more popular once there's an actor playing them. One example? Yaxley, who in the books was just a named Death Eater. In Deathly Hallows Part 1, he acts more like a well-dressed British gangster. It helps that he's played by the badass Trainspotting Peter Mullan.
** Also his walking instead of running after the fleeing Trio in the Ministry made him a lot scarier!
* HamAndCheese: Ralph Fiennes is just there to enjoy himself.
* InternetBackdraft: Want to have some fun? Find some Potter fans and claim you prefer the films to the books. Expect them to retort that that is because you haven't read the books. And then if you really want to have some fun, say you have read the books and still prefer the films.

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: Evanna Lynch is Luna Lovegood!

* CanonSue: There are fans who debate and write essays over Hermione, Ginny, or even Lily Evans being this.
* CompleteMonster: Dolores Umbridge. Voldemort. Bellatrix Lestrange. Fenrir Greyback. Barty Crouch Jr.
** Special mention goes to Umbridge and Greyback. Umbridge is willing to torture children, and threatens to destroy people's souls for resisting arrest for, essentially, the crime of being born. Greyback earns his reputation by being little more than a wild monster who can talk and do magic, amongst other things,
* DracoInLeatherPants: Draco, of course, and all the bad guys except Voldemort. Well, he was handsome before his psychosis was set off...

* EpilepticTrees: Lots of them, especially while the series was still ongoing. Rowling did indeed conceive the books as a children's series, despite the protestations of many older fans that it's not really for kids. But it's fair to say that the books "grew" with the original fanbase, and the last three or four aren't appropriate for the books' original elementary-school-age audience. Evidenced by the fact that the ratings of the Harry Potter movies seem to be increasing with each sequel: the first few were PG, the more recent ones have been PG-13, and with reports about possible nudity in the two-part Deathly Hallows adaptations it looks like the filmmakers are shooting for an R-rating.
