* AndYouThoughtItWouldFail: During an episode of ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'', Smith takes a jab at the then-upcoming ''Film/AntMan'' and ''[[Film/FantasticFour2015 Fantastic Four]]'' films, saying that the former looks okay but not great and that the second looks terrible. He was right about the Fantastic Four doing poorly (as were many others), but ''Ant-Man'' was a surprise critical and commercial success.

* HypocriticalFandom:
** Individuals such as LetsPlay/SimonLane and LetsPlay/{{Turpster}} frequently come under fire from Hatters for shouting a lot. It clearly hasn't occurred to them that Trott, Ross and Smith ''all do the exact same thing'', although it is true that they rein it in from time to time.
** Similarly, if Simon or Turps RDM someone in ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'', they're arseholes that need to be kicked from the gaming session. If Hat Films do it, it's comedy of the purest form. Granted, the Sirs are a little better than Simon and definitely better than Turps, but still...
** Criticism of the trio for using the ''jihad bomb'' in ''TTT'' conveniently ignores other players using it, such as Zoey and Kim.

* EarWorm:
** From ''Filfy' Animals'': "Hi, my name is Geoff and I'm a glitchy silverfish. Not much else left to say..."
** The main Hatventures theme.
** Most of the improvised ditties that the trio come up with are surprisingly memorable, such as "Eat food, don't die" and "Put a bit of lava in the drum". The catchy beatboxing and fairly good singing helps.

* InternetBackdraft:
** In the ''GTA V'' episode [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTKZMXCaoiY "Swamp Monster"]], Smith makes several barbed jokes directed at the United Kingdom Independence Party (since he claims to be pro-European Union) and also at people waving the English flag around, pointing out that many of those people were seen at far-right rallies. A VocalMinority of people who identified as right-wing and far-right were quick to express their anger at Smith's comments and insult him disproportionately, although this led to a counter-backdraft from those who identified as moderate or left-wing, who pointed out that Smith was mostly joking.

The blog failed to apologise and took this as an opportunity to accuse the Yogscast of being too thin-skinned, as well as accuse the Sirs of encouraging harassment, which only led to further anger.
** Their [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Hatfilms/comments/4hv7js/website_design_contest_deadline_4th_july/ website design competition]] netted them a fair bit of backdraft, especially due to the reveal that the winner would not be paid for their work. ** The facecam decision notably led to intense arguments on the Hat Films subreddit, although things died down eventually.

** Turps and Sips joining the Sirs for ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' has split the base a bit. While the latter went down with few complaints and Turps has more fans than detractors, some feel that the group dynamic is being somehow RuinedForever even though the Sirs clearly enjoy their company. Debates largely died down after time passed.

** The ''Machinima/YogscastMinecraftSeries'' miniseries ''Trials of Derpulies'' has an ''incredibly'' divisive reaction amongst Hatters due to the extremely limited screentime of the trio, despite them having committed two days worth of time into the project (which many Hatters are now arguing should have been spent on other projects like ''Stunt Lads'' or ''VideoGame/RocketLeague'' instead). While some are willing to hang around for their limited screentime and will concede that there are many funny moments involving other members such as Sips, an overwhelming number of Hatters have been quick to post about their dislike of the series, accusing the editors of being overwhelmingly biased in favour of Team Sjipos (Lewis, Sips and LetsPlay/{{Sjin}}) based on that team's absurdly high screen time. It's gotten to the point that [[http://i.imgur.com/NQSYErt.png even Smith and Ross have tweeted their disapproval]], although it's unclear whether they're joking.

* NeverLiveItDown: There are still many haters of Smiffy that argue that he ghosts all the time in ''VideoGame/GarrysMod''. This really isn't true, though it happens on occasion.

* PeripheryDemographic: Despite mostly having an older audience than most of the Yogscast, the trio do have some younger fans. The fanbase and the trio themselves have been welcome for the most part, if wary.

* MemeticSexGod: All of the Sirs have a "sexy hashtag" from the large fandom that find them attractive. Smith has [=#StiffyForSmiffy=], Trott has [=#HotForTrott=] and Ross has [=#HornyForHornby=]. This has had its drawbacks, however, since Trott's real-life girlfriend has pointed out how uncomfortable it makes her and been insulted in response.
