* The fact that unlike the other two shows DC is releasing in 2014 (''Flash'' and ''Constantine''), which had comedic moments in them, ''Gotham'' is much more straight faced. Some are worried that the show will become too dark and/or boring because of this.

* {{Narm}}: Young Bruce's scream in the trailer. It is a realistic sounding yell--but the screaming of a small child doesn't always lend itself well to drama.

* WTHCastingAgency: The reaction to Ben [=McKenzie=] being cast as Jim Gordon. Many people feel he doesn't quite make the look of a younger Gordon, especially since he doesn't have Gordon's signature glasses and/or mustache (yet).
** Though his appearance is justified considering young Gordon in the comics almost never has a mustache before getting older, and some have found that [=McKenzie=] looks an awful lot like [[LAConfidential Bud White.]] And some find this [[CrazyAwesome most excellent.]]

* TaintedByThePreview: As mentioned above, some fans loathe the series before it even begins because it seems like a ''Series/{{Smallville}} ripoff done by [[HateSink Fox.]] However...

** That this show isn't an adaption of ComicBook/GothamCentral instead.

** The fact that this is '''another''' Batman-based media has not gone over well with DC fans, many of whom wish that DC would start building up the rest of its impressive stable of heroes into franchises instead of continually going back to the Superman/Batman well.
