character derailment is listed in Flame Bait

* CharacterDerailment: Many think that the NonSerialMovie is this, mostly from Saki. As the relationship between Saki and Mai is extremely stable and understanding since the beginning, FeudEpisode is just out of character of them. Not to mention Saki's dense JerkAss behavior doesn't endear anyone. Almost all of the fans will recommend to avoid the movie for this very reason.

Cutting Akudaikahn and rewriting Gohyaan as per the Complete Monster clean-up. See this thread for details.

* CompleteMonster: Lord Akudaikahn and [[spoiler:Gohyaan]].
** Let's start with Akudaikahn, first. He seems like he's merely just like the Dark King from the original series at first, though notably a bit angrier and more forceful. This comes to a head when [[spoiler: Michiru and Kaoru betray him after Saki and Mai show them how tyhe world works and they give the gems for the fountain of win willingly to them, he proceeds to Blast them to death, then bury's them in the bottom of a lake. This alone shows how horrible he is.]]
** [[spoiler: Gohyaan, on the other hand, is even worse. He seems like a subservient, if rather sly right hand man to Akudaikahn. Then he crosses the Moral Event Horizon detailed below, in which he tortures the mascots to get information out of them. This is bad enough already, but then it's revealed he created Akudaikahn, and is pretty much responsible for what Akudaikahn Did, and all he wants to do is destroy the universe to be the only life-form in existence out of disgust for it all. Until the likes of [[Anime/SmilePrettyCure Joker]] came around, he is easily seen as one of the most horrifically monstrous villains in the entire franchise.]]

* BaseBreaker: [[VindicatedByHistory While not as much today]], back when this series was first aired, it got quite a bit of backlash at first, due the lowered hand to hand combat elements from the previous seasons of zipping around and flying as well as beam spam and feeling like too much of a retraux of the original. Nowadays, the series is seen with much more respect and is overall much more enjoyed now, due to the fact that it introduced flight mechanics and by the series end, was able to mix the elements it introduced with some new hand to hand fights near the series end, setting a new standard for fight scenes in the series. The darker plot and better written villains compared to the original series may have something to do with it as well. The series still has some detractors, though not as much or as volatile about it as it used to.
