Through the course of his adventure, we learn he's resisting settling down in a family setting, which he considers boring and mundane. Roarke talks to him about how being a family man can be extreme in its own way and admits there are times he thinks about having that kind of life. "Let's Go" reveals that he previously adopted a baby orphaned during a shipwreck and had many good years raising her. * NightmareFuel: As stated above, this series did have a slight sinister overtone in pertaining exactly what the island was. Plus with Malcom Mcdowell cast as Roarke there was a much more otherworldly edge to this version of the character. It's only offset is that he's not deliberately malicious and trying to teach the guest valuable life lessons that the were missing. But not afraid to show them some ToughLove to get his point across.
