* Alternate Character Interpretation: The entire show is this due to the fact that it is a narritive of events through the eyes of one kid writing about these events into his journal. As a result, his opinions on a person will affect how they are portrayed in each episode.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: From the Disney version. Doug winds up borrowing one of Judy's hats for a school project that Roger finds and decides to keep. Doug winds up being Roger's slave and has to avoid telling Judy what happened, as he had to sign a contract in order to borrow it. After being involved in a scheme to steal a plastic cow (ItMakesSenseInContext), Doug finally admits to Judy that Roger has the hat and won't give it back. Her response?

This is NOT a Family Unfriendly Aesop. It frequently takes something bad happening for a character to learn their lesson in an Aesop

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: In the VerySpecialEpisode mentioned below, Patti becomes anorexic and over exercises in an attempt to ...improve her athletic performance. Despite a crumbling personal life and constant exhaustion, she believes it is working and everything is ok. Only after passing out at a sporting event does she think she has a problem... her eating disorder is negatively affecting her athletic abilities. Moral of the story; eating disorders are just fine until you lose a sporting event. On a side note, Patti proves to be a piss poor athlete anyway for believing that not eating and over exercising improves athletic performance.
** Does this really count? It's quite frequent in Aesops for it to take something bad happening for a character to realize there's a problem.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: While ''Disney's Doug'' lasted three years, some fans were simply turned off by the change. Of course, others did enjoy it.

* CharacterDerailment: Guy Graham from Disney's Doug was always an egomaniac and could be a jerk, but he was never a really ''bad'' guy. But in TheMovie, he's an absolute bastard working with [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Mr. Bluff]] to kill an innocent creature for his own gain, manipulating Patti all the while. He's Doug's rival in love, sure, but he was never ''villainous'' in the show like he is in TheMovie.
** The same goes for Bill Bluff who is inflated to a supervillain somewhere between ''ErinBrockovich'' and ''JamesBond''.
