Pinkie can warp reality. THAT is Fanon.

** Excuse the possible natter, but I tried asking this in the discussion page, and it was deleted, so WHAT FANON? Give one example. Any example Don't just say "it was based on Fanon." What was done that either wasn't an established part of the show, or required for the crossover? Derpy's Muffins?

There\'s no freaking Fanon in this.

*** [[Main/WordofGod Word of God]] says that the Derpy scene in particular was written before Season 2, where Derpy's background appearances became intentional. As such, this would have technically been one of the first scenes early on in the fandom where the entire focus was on Derpy.

** The opening shot of the episode is a solid 30 second long shot of Twilight mixing potion ingredients while making random facial expressions. It goes on for so long that it starts to feel like an OverlyLongGag, except there's no gag. It's just Twilight sitting and mixing ingredients.

* SpotlightStealingSquad: One common complaint is that so much time is spent showing off the fandom's favorite background ponies that the Mane Six are shafted. And of course there's [[spoiler:the Powerpuff Girls]].

** Not to mention that some people [[spoiler: who ''liked'' the PowerpuffGirls section felt that the crew should have just made the episode a straight PPG/MLP crossover from the get-go rather than wasting the PPG material on a handful of gags with little plot relevance.]]

** Rainbow Dash accidentally OBLITERATES PONYVILLE! Characters are shown weeping over the wreckage and it is most certainly not played for laughs. This only exists as a reason for Rainbow Dash to get a punishment for stealing, and Twilight seems greatly irritated, more than anything.

Natter.

** It kinda hurts that Craig McCracken's birthday was the following day of this special's original release. Sure the [[spoiler:sudden crossover]] was unexpected, but it was indeed a tribute to both McCracken and Faust....would it hurt to at least take an objective look?

* DemotedToExtra: Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash are the only Mane Six members who get any prominence. This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the SpotlightStealingSquad issue, discussed below.

* HypeBacklash: The whole project was initially pitched and hyped as a "fan-made episode" that aimed to [[OriginalFlavor capture the feeling of the original show as accurately as possible]] and have a professional quality level. Needless to say, when it turned out to be a bit ReferenceOverdosed and [[spoiler: be roughly one third PowerpuffGirls crossover]], a lot of people who had expected something more true to the original show didn't respond positively.

** The Derpy scene is ''far'' too long, completely destroying the momentum of the Double Rainboom scene. Especially bad since this is a character whose entire gimmick is blink-and-you-miss-it appearances.

That\'s bad pacing, but nowhere near weird enough to be considered a BLAM

*** The first shot of the episode is of Twilight mixing the potions into the one she wants. She says nothing in this span of time, it goes on for 30 seconds, and the story continues without a second thought.

** The moments with the side characters during Dash's flight through Ponyville are amusing but they're never mentioned again, and most of them drag on for twice the length they should.

** The bit near the beginning when Twilight finishes the potion could also count; when she finishes it, it inexplicably bursts into a massive cloud of smoke with a trollface in it, which cackles before vanishing back into the potion. There's no explanation for why this happens, and neither Twilight nor Rainbow Dash comment on it.

* BrokenBase: Fans of ''MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' either see this as a nice tribute to the show, it's creator LaurenFaust, and her husband, CraigMcCracken, or are disappointed that, for an fan made project that was supposed to be "accurate to the show", it ended up having a poorly paced plot that's similar to fanfiction and littered with cultural references and memes. The fact that the [[spoiler: crossover aspect]] was a completely unexpected plot twist also didn't help.
