* AudienceAlienatingPremise: The {{Crossover}} aspect is an interesting example, because it was kept a secret for as long as possible, meaning viewers who weren't interested in it didn't feel alienated until after they spent their time watching the episode. Especially since it was advertised solely as a ''My Little Pony'' fan-episode.

* UncannyValley: Of a sort. The film was advertised as having "show-quality animation". It ALMOST gets there... with reviewers pointing out the animation and visuals were of high enough quality to draw attention to the fact that it wasn't quite ''as'' high quality as the show, in addition to lacking many of the background effects that MLP employs, thereby producing this effect on a meta level.

* HarsherInHindsight: The whole sequence where Rainbow Dash floats through the void from ''Creator/TheHub'' universes to the ''Creator/CartoonNetwork'' universes is this now that ''Creator/TheHub'' was cut short when ''Creator/{{Discovery}}'' wanted one of their channels back, especially because a lot of the shows used to represent ''Creator/TheHub'' universes ended up being CutShort because of it...

* PanderingToTheBase: Fans who didn’t like the episode accused Zackery Rich of focusing too much on many of its references to the shows memes, running gags and fanon interpretations.

** The opening shot of the episode is a solid 30 second long shot of Twilight mixing potion ingredients while making random facial expressions. It goes on for so long that it starts to feel like an OverlyLongGag, except there's no gag. It's just Twilight sitting and mixing ingredients. The reason for this is it was originally a promo to show off their production values, [[ThrowItIn which they then just decided to leave in the episode unaltered]].

* AssPull: Pinkie's use of the potion that enhances a pony's special talent enables her [[spoiler: to travel through dimensions, despite the fact that Pinkie's special talent isn't the ability to alter reality, but throwing parties, or, more broadly, making other ponies happy.]] No explanation is given for this.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: In a way, most of the [[spoiler:Townsville sequence. Really, after Pinkie retrieves Dash, no mention is made of the event's specifics and aside from Pinkie stealing Bloo]], there is nothing else too out of the ordinary happening. RD could have gone ''anywhere'' and the results would have ended up the same.

* BrokenBase: Fans of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' either see this as a nice tribute to the show, its creator Creator/LaurenFaust, and her husband Creator/CraigMcCracken, or are disappointed that for a fan made project that was supposed to be "accurate to the show", it ended up having a poorly paced plot that's similar to fanfiction and littered with cultural references and memes. The fact that the [[spoiler: crossover aspect]] was a completely unexpected plot twist also didn't help.
** The [[spoiler:crossover parts]] in general. Loving tribute to Lauren Faust and to Craig [=McCracken=]? Or unnecessary waste of time that wasn't accurate to what the show would do?

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The entire fanbase is built on interesting plots, unanswered questions, and giving spotlight to background ponies. This fanmade episode does not in any way take advantage of this.
** Rainbow Dash accidentally [[spoiler:''obliterates Ponyville''! Characters are shown weeping over the wreckage and it is most certainly not played for laughs. This only exists as a reason for Rainbow Dash to get a punishment for stealing, and Twilight seems greatly irritated, more than anything (she's seen one of her friends inadvertently level the town more than once before, after all).]]
** Not to mention that some people [[spoiler:who ''liked'' WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls section felt that the crew should have just made the episode a straight PPG/MLP crossover from the get-go rather than wasting the PPG material on a handful of gags with little plot relevance.]]

* HypeBacklash: The whole project was initially pitched and hyped as a "fan-made episode" that aimed to [[OriginalFlavor capture the feeling of the original show as accurately as possible]] and have a professional quality level. Needless to say, when it turned out to be ReferenceOverdosed and [[spoiler:roughly one-third ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'' crossover]], a lot of people who had expected something more true to the original show didn't respond positively.

* TaintedByThePreview: Needless to say, if the project hadn't been hyped so much before the release, it likely wouldn't have resulted in a such a BrokenBase.
