** Even the improved fishing rods and Miss Teri's good luck charms don't increase your chance of actually catching a fish; they only make more rare fish available without making it easier to catch them. The charm also has a 30 minute time limit, which...does...''not'' mix well with the fact that unless you're fishing in Castleton, you have to quit quests constantly and cycle through several screens to get back to the starting point.
** Oh, and in case you were thinking you could complete the whole game without fishing, the best quest clothes, wands, and furniture all require rare jewel bubbles to create. Have fun.

** To begin with, so much can go wrong just trying to hook a fish. Landing the bobber directly on top of the fish's silhouette (which is ''very'' easy to do accidentally with larger, and therefore more valuable, fish) will cause it to disappear entirely. A fish that swims too close to the bobber while you're busy trying to hook another fish will also disappear. There's also the chance that the fish will refuse to approach the bobber at all, even when it's right in front of its little scaly face.

** You can get "better" fishing rods by fishing up certain jewel bubbles and turning them in to Donald, but the jewels he asks for are only found in quest area fishing holes. Unlike the Castleton pond and pier, these spots only have about four fish each per visit, meaning if you don't find the jewel you were looking for, you have to start the quest all over again. Lather, rinse, repeat. To make it even harder, multiple types of jewel bubbles can be found in each quest area, and he always asks you for the rarer kind.
** Even the improved fishing rods and Miss Teri's good luck charms don't increase your chance of actually catching a fish; they only make more rare fish available without making it easier to catch them. * ScrappyMechanic: Fishing is far and away ''the'' most frustrating part of the game. It's the only way to get jewel bubbles, which you need to trade for rare items and craft certain outfits and furniture, but the odds of actually getting a jewel bubble from fishing, much less the one you're looking for, are insanely low. Why? When you hook a fish, it almost always gets away, and even if you actually catch the stupid thing, there's no guarantee that it'll be a rare fish or even that it'll have the jewel bubble you want. To make matters worse, the "better" fishing rods (which you need jewels to get in the first place) do NOT increase your chances of catching a fish, they only make more rare fish available without making them easier to catch.
