* CondemnedByHistory: At release, ''Deadly Towers'' not only had decent reviews, but was quite a commercially successful game; Up to two years after its release it was appearing high in the monthly sales often, even beating out some first party Nintendo titles. In the decades since however, the reception its had is almost unanimously bad, and is one of the likeliest to appear on any "Worst NES Games" list. Comparing the reactions it had between release and now is almost like looking at two different games.

Looking through how the trope is used on this website, it appears it can be used for either. If that is a problem, TRS should sort it out. Until anything is officially defined, it should be preserved.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: In an era where every other game has a SaveThePrincess plot, ''Deadly Towers'' has a surprisingly interesting premise. However, it's ruined by the game's terrible gameplay.

* MostAnnoyingSound: The BGM! The game has a very limited soundtrack, and there are two themes that play for 99% of the game. Every time you move from room to room the music track for the new room plays from the very beginning; this means for 99% of the game, you are hearing the same song ''reset itself hundreds of times!''
