Project Brutality has own work page, so I removed examples from Project Brutality in this page

** The shielded gray/black Baron of Hell from Project Brutality, in addition to a truly devastating automatic grenade launcher (though he only fires half a dozen at a time), also has shield that not only blocks attacks, but ''also'' launches energy wave attacks too.

* GameBreaker: The Black Hole cannon from Project Brutality can four shot the final boss of the "Hell on Earth" map pack.
** The reinforcement beacon, especially when it's deployed in a boss level. Deploy, take cover, and sit back. Even when the reinforcement is wiped out, the boss will be sufficiently weakened for you to finish it.

** The large arsenal for Project Brutality has multiple weapons for every slot, which makes equipping your desired weapon a tedious process. To make matters worse most sounds are disproportionately loud due to poor mixing unless you know how to fix it.

Natter-y fanboying. This may be YMMV, but don't gush - it's been pointed out he may have jacked the Necrodoo M sprites for the tank vehicle, and this is by one of his fans.

* BrokenBase: A sizable chunk (usually Doomworld and Zdoom forum members) of players have passed it off as a glorified gore mod with juvenile humor, not feeling it deserves the mountains of praise everyone else is giving it. The fact that [=SgtMarkIV=] wasn't a very pleasant person to have a conversation with (having been banned on multiple Doom forums for alleged cyberbullying, although he's eased up as of 2015 judging from his posts in his Facebook and [=YouTube=] pages), and has been accused of messy coding and plagiarism (which not only hasn't been proven to be true but numerous mods did the same alleged "plagiarism" trick) isn't helping the flame wars.
** Whether or not the purists said that Brutal Doom has ruined ''Doom'' and brought "COD kids" to the fanbase and ruins the balance and feel of vanilla ''Doom'', although there's also those saying both of these sides are blowing it way out of proportion with their flame-wars and making it hard to enjoy a legitimately entertaining mod that brings a fresh new way of how to play Doom regardless of what side they are on. This, combined with [=SgtMarkIV=]'s behavior, has resulted in some Doom forums having a de facto or outright ban on discussion of the mod entirely.
** [=SgtMarkIV=] himself is often the main base breaker, as alluded to before. He is alleged to put a racist joke using the n-word in the code once; told a depressed person to kill themselves, then told them how, then linked where to buy the stuff he suggested; he's made the standard sexist "kitchen" joke on [=YouTube=] comments before. He also at one point planned to enhance the gore using actual dead people pictures, but that ended up not happening due to a mix of the controversy and the fact that the realistic, pixelated images clashed with the rest of the graphics.
*** none of this is helped by the fact he's allegedly part of a political party that's infamous in his home country for being extremely racist towards Black Africans. The rumors have only caused more controversy around him.
*** He's starting to also get some on how he's been releasing the mod lately claiming to have new or restoring previously buggy features, only for the new release to not have some of those hyped features be present on release due to "issues" that come up that require a later version/patch to put back in, which is were the bad coding claims mentioned above are come from.

As listed:
** Whether or not the purists said that Brutal Doom has ruined ''Doom'' and brought "COD kids" to the fanbase and ruins the balance and feel of vanilla ''Doom'', although there's also those saying whether or not it breathes fresh life into an old video game and makes it modernized, or whether or not both of these sides are blowing it way out of proportion with their flame-wars and making it hard to enjoy a legitimately entertaining mod that brings a fresh new way of how to play Doom regardless of what side they are on. This, combined with [=SgtMarkIV=]'s behavior, has resulted in some Doom forums having a de facto or outright ban on discussion of the mod entirely.
** [=SgtMarkIV=] himself
debate overhype what is often the main base breaker, as alluded to before. He is alleged to put just a racist joke using the n-word in the code once; told gameplay mod.
*** [=SgtMark=]'s past behavior (ranging from telling
a suicidal, depressed person user to kill themselves, then told them how, then linked where to buy the stuff he suggested; he's made the standard sexist "kitchen" joke racist slurs hidden in coding, getting angry about VideoGame/DooM2016 taking inspiration from his mod, planning on [=YouTube=] comments before. He also at one point planned to enhance the gore using actual pictures of dead people pictures, but that ended up not happening due to a mix of the controversy as sprites, and the fact that the realistic, pixelated images clashed with the rest attacking naysayers when he won a [=ModDB=] award) got him banned from a lot of the graphics.
*** none of
Doom communities. Either you think this is helped by the fact unfair and he's allegedly part of a political party that's infamous in his home country for being extremely racist towards Black Africans. The rumors have only caused more controversy around him.
*** He's starting to also get some on how
changed, or he's been releasing the mod lately claiming to have new or restoring previously buggy features, only for the new release to not have some of those hyped features be present on release due to "issues" that come up that require a later version/patch to put back in, which is were the bad coding claims mentioned above are come from.still an asshole.

* MostAnnoyingSound: the helper marines are ''incredibly'' chatty, and will constantly repeat their few lines of dialog - often choosing the same one several times in a row. It gets to the point a lot of players will send them to their doom just to shut them up.
** ''Project Brutality'' has the Beacon pickup which spawns four friendly marines. For the reason detailed above everyone with eardrums is likely to only ever use it once to try it out, then forever avoid even picking it up at all.
