* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: While the Huntington football players [[spoiler:are painted as the HateSink and BigBad after their murder history and plot to kill Jeff is mentioned]], it can be a lot easier to hate Tim instead. As Jeff's HypercompetentSidekick, he's actively working against the girls by threatening Josie the day after [[spoiler:Jeff's house is egged and TP'd (with his car blown up)]], and then takes advantage of [[spoiler:a hurt Hazel (who PJ refused to give credit for her efforts in the club) to not only out PJ and Josie as liars, but then trick her into fighting the caged football player instead of PJ, which ultimately gets Hazel brutally beaten up]]. Not helping matters is that [[spoiler:the Huntington football players' villainy comes in near the end and are all disposed of in the same confrontation they appear in, while Tim ends up a complete KarmaHoudini after spending more time in the film as an antagonistic figure (and the worst he gets is winding up in a chokehold during the final battle)]].

* LGBTFanbase: Being a movie about lesbians, it has attracted a big lesbian fanbase. It's also popular among other WLW. This is helped by the casting of queer actresses, like Creator/AyoEdebiri, Creator/RubyCruz and Havana Rose Liu, in lead roles.

I don't know how many others feel this way about Tim, but I'm kinda hoping I'm not the only one who had this reaction since I had no way to quickly gauge what people thought of the characters in the movie. I just feel bummed nothing happened to Tim considering what he pulled in the film.

* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Creator/MarshawnLynch is primarily known for being an athlete and not an actor. He had very meager acting experience prior to ''Bottoms'' (mostly limited to cameos as himself, barring a still-pretty-sparse, three-episode turn as Giggles in ''Series/{{Westworld}}''). However, viewers often pick out Lynch's hilarious performance as Mr. G as one of the standouts in the film.

* HollywoodPudgy: It's also implied that one of the reasons the cheerleaders are considered so desirable is that they're so skinny. Their skinniness is even the basis of PJ and Josie's poor attempts at flirting with Brittany and Isabel when the latter two are introduced. Most of the other girls, including Josie and PJ, are also clearly thin, however. Again, though, they wear frumpy and baggy clothes.

* MemeticMutation: Even before the film came out, it amused many people due to the fact that its teasers mostly just consisted of dialogue-less frames of PJ and Josie with their mouths agape and looking shocked. The memes noted that surprise was clearly an emotion the two would experience many times in the film, but it'd be great to find out what it's actually about.

Ho Yay is by definition unintentional

* HoYay: It's intentional and played for laughs in this movie. Although most of the men shown are straight (and terribly cruel to the leading lesbians), [[HypocriticalHumor their worship of cishet masculinity and men who conform to that masculine ideal comes across as... well, gay.]] So straight they're gay, if you will.
** Principal Meyers describes Jeff as the manliest, most red-blooded man that America has seen in many years.
** The other football players, especially Tim, are obsessively protective over their star Jeff.
** One of the men in the audience for the big game sneers at PJ [[spoiler:kissing Hazel]], calling it "gay shit"... then proceeds to demand for the "man-on-man grappling and slapping" (football) to start. And ''immediately'' after, a male commentator yells out, "Who do I have to blow to get this game started already?"
