* ''Many'' in ''WebVideo/CriticalRole'', considering it's a series with LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters and the party isn't always the greatest at taking care of their allies...
** Within the party itself, Vex and Vax lost their mother at a young age and were emotionally neglected by their father. Vax becomes a HeartbrokenBadass for a number of episodes after [[spoiler: nearly losing Vex in the Raven Queen's temple]], and Vex is a StepfordSmiler with major self-confidence issues.
** There's also Keyleth, who has a ''serious'' guilt complex and constantly blames herself for everything the party does wrong, and every life they couldn't save.
** And, of course, there's resident IronWoobie Percy, whose entire family was killed [[spoiler: but for his sister]], and who suffers through torture, betrayal, a bad case of DemonicPossession, the [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone guilt of having invented the universe's first firearms]] and even ''[[spoiler: his own death]]'' without giving up. Incidentally, he's played by Taliesin Jaffe, a former child actor whose role in ''Film/MrMom'' might have been the TropeNamer for the Woobie. He gets [[OldShame slightly irritated whenever it's brought up at the table]].
** As for NPCs, the helpful, {{Adorkable}} mapmaker Tyriok [[spoiler: loses an arm]] after Vox Machina finds him [[spoiler: turned to stone]] and they botch their attempt to fix him.
** There's also [[spoiler: Cassandra de Rolo]], who has been living under the subjugation of a vampire and a necromancer since her early teens, suffering a serious case of StockholmSyndrome all the while, after [[spoiler: losing the rest of her family but one: she's Percy's younger sister]].
** The carriage driver the Briarwoods take to Eman is a minor character but he has a ''very'' rough go of it: Percy shoots off two of his fingers and the Briarwoods attempt to assassinate him with an invisible stalker, and all that within a couple of days - not to mention [[spoiler: his backstory is very grim, which he explains while Vox Machina is holding him captive]].
** In recent arcs, Gilmore, a fan-favourite NPC, is turning into an IronWoobie as well. Barely days after Vax [[spoiler: turns down Gilmore's romantic advances]], Gilmore loses his businesses in Eman and Westruun to the Chroma Conclave attack, nearly dies [[spoiler: fighting Thordak]], survives an assassination attempt, and thereafter spends his days running himself ragged trying to maintain a magical barrier over Whitestone. The players love Gilmore dearly, but can do almost nothing to help him.

** Luna was imprisoned on the moon for one thousand years, only for no one to even recognize her when she came back. She also has to deal with her JerkAss sister, Celestia who constantly makes selfish, reckless, and irresponsible decisions regarding the protection of their subjects, only for herself, to be constantly proven wrong, while Celestia is constantly rewarded with success.

* ''WebVideo/SuperMarioLogan'':
** Mario qualifies to an extent, presumed to existing just to be tormented. [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption His plans never go the way he wants them to be.]] His roommates Shrek and Black Yoshi are inconsiderate of him, and come 2016, he is forced to babysit a handicapped child named Jeffy, who annoys him 24/7 with his stupidity, cat piano and pooping in his pants. The latter takes a toll on Mario and slowly turns him into more of a {{Jerkass}}, specifically trying to get rid of Jeffy. This is taken UpToEleven in "Jeffy's Bad Word!" where some fans felt sorry for him due to the Mario torture porn and worldwide humiliation he suffered from the video.
** Chef Pee Pee works for Bowser, who continuously treats him like a slave, and his son Bowser Junior annoys him just as bad, even more in some cases. Pee Pee has sworn to kill the latter multiple times, but he has either never did it or actually attempted it to no avail. It's not hard to feel sorry for Chef Pee Pee sometimes, especially when he gets tortured. He even sang a song about his misery in "Chef Pee Pee Quits! Part 6". In "Chef Pee Pee's Birthday Surprise!", Junior and his friends, Joseph, Cody and Toad, feeling sorry for him, throw a surprise birthday party, and Chef Pee Pee goes through an emotional rollercoaster on his party. A heartwarming moment indeed.
** Junior himself can be this sometimes, specifically in the ''Bowser Junior Goes To Military School!'' mini-series [[TheChewToy where he gets tortured far beyond normal]] by Sergeant Brooklyn T. Guy. He is forced to squirt hot sauce in his eyes, watch ''Disney/BigHero6'', have Thomas burn in a fireplace in front of him, and eat dirt before breaking both physically and mentally. Thanks to Joseph and Cody though, he restores his original side at the end.

** Taiyang Xiao Long, Ruby and Yang's father, could definitely be considered this after Yang tells her story to Blake in "Burning the Candle". After Summer Rose, Ruby's mother, never came back from a mission, Yang says that he just shut down after that. However, Summer wasn't the first love he lost, but the second. Yang's mother was the first and she just up and left after Yang was born. On top of all that, he came VERY close to losing both of his young daughters to a pack of Beowolves if Qrow hadn't shown up to save them in time. After hearing this, you just want to give the guy a hug. After the destruction of Beacon Academy, he nearly loses his youngest daughter, while his eldest is [[spoiler:disfigured, bedridden, and depressed]].

** Volume 3, from "Fall" onwards, just piles on the misery for Pyrrha Nikos. She is singled out by the headmasters she came to trust, becomes privy to secrets that contradict centuries of commonly held knowledge, learns that one of her childhood stories is [[spoiler:actually a reality that few in the world know about, and is asked to decide if she's willing to absorb the power of the Fall Maiden]] with about a day to think about it. Doing so would [[spoiler:expose her to dangerous people that want the Fall Maiden's power for themselves (and would probably kill her to obtain it), she may lose her identity in the process of essentially taking on another person's ''soul'', and moreover, taking on the powers of a near godly being and needing constant protection from danger]] would place her on a major pedestal and further isolate her from her friends and family, the very thing she resented about her life as a world-renowned fighter. The stress of the decision mentally unravels her to the point where she [[spoiler:throws Jaune into a wall after he unwittingly encourages her to go through with it, loses control of her Semblance, and is easily tricked into killing Penny in front of a worldwide audience]]. Everything that was placed on her shoulders turns out to [[ShaggyDogStory be for naught]] when [[spoiler:Cinder kills the Fall Maiden, absorbing the power for herself, and uses it to kill Pyrrha by burning her from the inside out]].
