Grim is now (begrudgingly) forced to serve as something of an underworld version of Film/MaryPoppins, thanklessly placating Billy's demands for cheap entertainment and Mandy's schemes for self-profit with his magical scythe while desperately trying to find a way to be rid of the duo for good. Thus goes ''The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy'', a absurd HorrorComedy series created by Maxwell Atoms for Creator/CartoonNetwork.

Removing misuse of Overwhelming Exception, which is a "when have I ever done that except for all the other times I've done that" gag.

* OverwhelmingException: Despite Mandy's apathy and cold personality towards anyone she encounters, it has been implied multiple times that Mandy actually cares for Billy and he is the only one she respects. (Unlike Grim who gets abuse on a regular basis by slave labour while Billy would relax with Mandy.) A notable example would be in ''Big Boogey Adventure'', she was in denial and was teary-eyed when Billy supposedly died, however she was pleasantly surprised that he had survived but regretted worrying about him because as she said "Billy's always fine".
** Mandy has commented several times that she hates Billy, and she would rather not have him in her life. But, in the Dune parody, she has a Billy Clone and a lot of spares made after the original died. If she truly hated him she wouldn't have made clones of him.

This show was the winner of the first Big Pick, a contest where viewers got to vote what pilot would be greenlit to be the next [[Creator/CartoonCartoons Cartoon Cartoon]]. The series was also originally paired up with another Maxwell Atoms cartoon called ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne'' to make up the ThreeShorts show known as ''Grim & Evil''. This early version of the show put more emphasis on the "horror" part of horror comedy, becoming the more goofy and comedic (but still pretty dark) ''The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy'' when the two shows were separated into their own series.
