* DoWrongRight: Shifu forbids the Furious Five from engaging with Tia Lung, but after watching Shifu fail to explain how he can make Po into the Dragon Warrior, Tigress goes off to stop Tai Lung herself. She is quickly pursued by rest of the Furious Five only to be told they don't want to stop her but that they are coming with her.

* PetTheDog: Tigress recalled in the main film that Shifu was never warm to her the way that he was to Tai Lung, because he couldn't bear to open his heart to another student again. [[spoiler:This gets softened when he learned that an unruly child was being called a monster at the orphanage, and went to help her. Even when despite his teachings to control her temper, she didn't get adopted, he went out of his way to do that and give her a home]]. 

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: One of the most sobering cases. Po has long-dreamed of being a great Kung Fu Warrior and best friends with the Furious Five. While he thinks there's been a mistake when Oogway chooses him as the Dragon Warrior, he at least tells Shifu that he's willing to train because a student must obey their master and Shifu orders him to train. Maybe a session will awaken latent powers and turn him into TheChosenOne of his dreams, as Po tentatively tries hitting a child's toy. Nope; the minute he lands a strong hit on it, the doll knocks him into the more difficult training areas, where he gets badly beaten up while getting burned in the process. The Five are pretty astounded that Po messed up that badly if concerned for him, and Shifu snarks, "There is now a level zero." Po then tells Oogway that he's not the Dragon Warrior, sucked the most on his first day of kung fu, and is considering going back to his dad's restaurant. Oogway has to tell him to not focus on the future, but on the now, and to enjoy the present. Po does take that lesson to heart, but still sucks the next day in combat training. When Shifu starts training Po for real, it takes months for him to even be able to match Shifu blow-for-blow, let alone win.

** Oogway comforts Po, seeing that he is stress-eating after his first day. They then have a talk about if Po should quit kung fu, if he is or isn't the Dragon Warrior. Po says that he sucked on his first day, and probably is the worst kung fu student the Jade Palace has seen; Oogway acknowledges it is probably true. He tells Oogway maybe he should quit and focus on noodles, since that is something he knows he can do well. Oogway then has a counterpoint as well: Po doesn't have to do well on his first try to earn his place. He's also focusing on what happened the day before and what may happen tomorrow. Oogway advises him, for now, to live in the moment and enjoy the gift of the present. Po realizes that's a good point, and the next day makes an effort to enjoy more "sucking". This wins some of the Five's respect that he won't give up even when getting his butt kicked, with Mantis and Viper patching him up after Shifu tosses him down the stairs. 

* MisplacedRetribution: When Tai Lung is denied the Dragon Scroll he comes on a rampage through the Valley of Peace even though none of the citizens had anything to do with him being rejected as the Dragon Warrior.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Oogway is this and a BunnyEarsLawyer. He advises Shifu that trying to stop Tai Lung from escaping prison may lead to Shifu causing the escape, while showing sympathy about Shifu's anguish. When he chooses Po as the Dragon Warrior, the tortoise goes to comfort the panda after his disastrous first day and encourages him not to give up or worry about his future. Before he dies, Oogway makes Shifu promise to train Po and believe in him.

** Even after Tai Lung has beat him, Shifu acknowledges that he is proud of Tai Lung and his love blinded him from what his demanding training was turning Tai Lung into and apologizes.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Shifu tells Po and the Furious Five that Tai Lung is on his way to the Valley of Peace and that Oogway is no longer here to help deal with him so only the Dragon Warrior is able to deal with him. Cue Po, fleeing to the stairs, screaming in terror, before Shifu catches up with him, because for all his enthusiasm about Kung Fu, he knows that he doesn't stand a chance of being trained to stand up to Tai Lung who is a PersonOfMassDestruction.
** Shifu's constantly telling Tai Lung he was destined for greatness and even naming him "great dragon" drove Tai Lung into a state of pushing himself to make Shifu proud but also feeling entitled to being named the Dragon Warrior and deserving of the Dragon Scroll. Shifu never picked upon on this growing darkness and when Oogway denied Tai Lung the title, the end results were sadly predictable.

* RealityEnsues:
** Shifu tells Po and the Furious Five that Tai Lung is on his way to the Valley of Peace and that Oogway is no longer here to help deal with him so only the Dragon Warrior is able to deal with him. ** Going even further, after he picks the lock of his shell nearly every security measure the rhinos at the prison use to stop Tai Lung only manages to help him get further. The oversided crossbow bolts they fire turn out to be perfect tools to break the rest of his chains, and then climb the prison walls. The lift mechanism they used to try and strand him down there turns out to still be climbable as well, as they didn't cut it higher up, and then their last ditch dynamite turns out to be the perfect weapon to take out the rest of the rhinos guarding the entrance.
