* BeYourself: Quite possibly the most effective presentation of the moral. Instead of going the tried-and-true route of "You're perfect just the way you are!", the movie instead opts to acknowledge that while you should always strive for self-improvement, there are no shortcuts to greatness. You can't be handed the fulfillment of your potential like a present. Being the best you can be is hard work, and being great is something you decide to be in yourself. ** Interestingly, it's the difference between Po and Tai Lung that shows how this lesson is to be taught. When Po has his epiphany and realizes this lesson, he becomes a better and more focused fighter that uses the skills he already knows to defeat Tai Lung, while Tai Lung believes there is a shortcut, and upon finding out there is none, is so enraged he becomes a worse fighter and is defeated by Po.

Set in an anthropomorphic animal version of ancient China, the story follows Po, a kung fu enthusiast, as he starts as the (apparently adopted) son of a noodle shop owner and becomes the Dragon Warrior, just by landing in the right place at the right time. His battle for acceptance by the people he's looked up to his whole life leads him on both comic and tragic turns, especially once he finds out what being TheChosenOne actually means: fighting Tai Lung, former disciple of Master Shifu and resident Badass, who was so scary that he got his own prison. A prison with a thousand armed, trained guards, carved into a mountain. From which he escapes...

Added DiffLines:
* EleventhHourSuperpower: Subverted. Tai Lung truly believes that the power of the scroll has made Po invincible and given him the strength that Tai Lung needs. In reality, Po just knows the truth about ultimate power:

Added DiffLines:
* UnlockingTheTalent: Shifu believes Po is a worthless fighter at first, possibly because of a combination of denial and jealousy that some stranger is better than his own students. When it occurs to him the problem may actually be his own fault, he begins training Po in a way that works, and Po goes from a lazy panda to an athletic kung-fu fighter in very little time.
