* {{Reincarnation}}: The single most popular theory of what the central plot actually is, titled by fans as [[http://everymanhybrid.wikia.com/wiki/Iteration_Theory "The Iteration Theory"]], is that Steph, Vince, Jeff, and Evan are incarnations of four individuals of the same name and personalities shown to have existed at least as far back as in the 70s. These four have some unexplained connection to the supernatural and are in a continuous conflict with the monsters in the series. The main four were also shown to reside in a "Candleverse" as [[ArchetypalCharacter archetypal characters]] (evidence suggesting names such as the Firebrand, Voyeur, and Guardian) who retain all the memories, presumably existing between reincarnations and before being reborn and starting the whole thing over again.

** "Le premier cours" clarifies this, somewhat: [[spoiler: the main cast are the physical embodiments of fictional characters (later confirmed to be [[ArchetypalCharacter archetypes]] from the EVERYMAN morality play) who have been written into reality. It's hinted that they were casted as children in the 1970s, and have been written back into existence every so many years as adults; the previous "adult iterations" were previous versions of the "story" that didn't play out correctly]].

This implies that the guys originally planned for nothing but a fitness series and that the fake Slender Man easter eggs were a last-minute-shits-and-giggles addition to the final version of the series they decided on, since there'd be nearly no way for the Slender Man's presence to be demonstrated in pure audio if he wasn't visually introduced first. * TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler: At the end of the series, HABIT successfully gets everything he wants from Vinny, successfully tricks him into thinking that they're going to kill Slender Man (when in reality he wants both Evan and Vinny dead), and leaves Evan for good so that he can "evolve and change". The entire main cast is dead, and it appears that not even another iteration can save the boys this time.]]
