History WebAnimation / SuperMario64Bloopers

One of the first, if not ''the'' first machinima of this kind was the eponymous series created by Website/{{YouTube}} user [=Megaman765=] in 2006. The series consisted primarily of gameplay footage recorded in an emulator and edited with subtitles and/or voices added to it via Windows Movie Maker. Gameshark codes and other hacks were used to create various effects such as changing the colors of Mario's clothes, creating clones of Mario, and freezing the camera in place. Around this time, users such as: Fleskhjerta, starman3, [=MaxofS2D=], [=MATTHEWGU4=], ACDCGAMER and [=MarioMario54321=] also started creating this style of machinima, helping the genre become more widespread and grow in popularity by 2010.

* ''[[Creator/{{supermarioglitchy4}} SMG4]]'' (2011): Went on to become arguably [[BreakoutCharacter the most recognizable icon from the genre]], going from independently-made videos in 2011 to a [[Creator/GlitchProductions full-on production company]] with a professional crew and cast by 2019. His [[WebAnimation/Supermarioglitchy4sSuperMario64Bloopers eponymous series]] would eventually de-emphasize the [=SM64=] game engine and assets in-favor of using VideoGame/GarrysMod.

* GratuitousForeignLanguage: [=MaxofS2D=] included a [[GratuitousFrench text in French]] (as he is French himself) and in "The Day the Retards Moved In", he could be seen speaking a few words in French with his translator Sinyps (who translated his machinimas in English and gave him music for his videos at the time).

Unfortunately, it was eventually discovered that he was a predator, abusing his power and position for his own benefit. He has since been blacklisted and hasn't uploaded anything in years.
