Eternals reveal that [[spoiler: in order for a new Celestial to be born, a civilized planet has to be destroyed]]. Gorr will be revealed to be a survivor from [[spoiler: a planet that a new Celestial recently destroyed]]. He blames the destruction on the Celstials, but he doesn't have the power to kill a Celestial. So he instead takes his revenge against the offspring of the Celstials
(Eternals and all those deemed as "gods") as the next best option.

Because you can't have a Thor movie without Loki, even if it's only for a cameo appearance.

Given that Knull is predominantly a ''ComicBook/{{Venom}}'' character and thus likely falls under the purview of Sony, and the Necrosword was previously shown as Hela's crown in ''Thor: Ragnarok'', Hela will play Knull's role as the dark god from whom Gorr gets the Necrosword.

There's Annabelle Riggs, who kissed with comic Valkyrie that one time.

In the previous movie, Asgard was depicted as having conquered other planets or realms in the past. Gorr could have been an inhabitant of one such planet, growing to hate the Asgardians for conquering and looting his homeworld, and other gods for standing by while his people and those of other planets suffered.

A version of Sersi, Kingo or Phastos, with no memory of having lived on Earth, with be on Gorr's hit list and saved by Thor and pals. Then, Thor or Quill will mention Earth, which will shake a loose memory in the Eternal, who will decide to investigate, leading into Eternals 2.

Since Thor is no longer going to be Prince of Asgard or the owner of his hammer, Thor: Love and Thunder may focus on Jane, as she tries to take care of being a superheroine.

It may be due to the fact that Jane was possessed by the Aether in ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld''. While it was extracted by Malekith, there may be consequences with having an Infinity Stone inside you for some time. So, like the comics, every time she uses Mjolnir, her chemotherapy progress is reset for the worse.

With the theme of Thor DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife and finding ways to heal and move on from losing his entire family, having Gorr, who also lost his own family but [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge could not quite move on from his loss and lashed out instead]], be his foil would make a lot of sense and it will be taken seriously to contrast the funnier bits of the film, with Thor seeing this would have been him if he did not have his friends to be there for him, which also ties in to Peter's advice to him to look into the eyes of those he loves, to which Thor still has plenty like the Avengers and the remaining Asgardians, unlike Gorr who is [[GoMadFromTheIsolation all alone]].

Originally in ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' it was considered that Thor would face off against Jormundgandr, the World Serpent. The artbooks elaborate on this sequence further, explaining that Stormbreaker would've instead been an ancient weapon already forged long ago, used to kill Jormungandr by one of Thor's ancestors. Thor's quest would've involved heading to the World Serpent's corpse to retrieve the axe, and fighting their way through the Serpent's giant children on their way out.

Similar to Film/SpiderManNoWayHome and Film/DoctorStrangeInTheMultiverseOfMadness, it's possible that Marvel Studios hiding Hercules' presence in the trailer with visual effects trickery like they did with [[spoiler:both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men]] in the former and they already casts a well-known actor for the role. Not to mention that Olympians like Zeus are confirmed to appear in the film, it wouldn't make sense to leave Hercules out from Love and Thunder.

Now that Thor has apparently given up his duties to “find himself”, Gorr will seize the opportunity to strike New Asgard and prove that gods are frauds who only look out for themselves.

In the comics, Gorr's race suffered despite praying to the gods to help them. This was why he began to kill gods in the first place: because they did nothing to stop pain and suffering.

As a tease for ''Guardians Vol 3'', we may have a hint as to her whereabouts post-''Endgame''.
