Ambiguous Disorder has been renamed to Diagnosed By The Audience and now belongs in YMMV.

You may think it's absurd but do you know why such a guess? Because in the episode, "The Laziest" Richard was able to change the channel with his mind (or "unique abilities") like someone with ESP (or telekinesis for a more familiar term). It maybe merely an AssPull but nobody can do that unless they're ''really'' smart (''I got that from Literature/{{Matilda}} by the way''). The only reason that he is dimwitted all the time because he's [[AmbiguousDisorder probably autistic]] but not the bad kind.

He's the actual Center of the World. Without him, Elmore loses its integrity - but at the same time, this all hinges on him being a silly, over-excitable mischievous kid. Puberty could render him unfit for this role. So as soon as the world decided it had been delaying Gumball's puberty for too long, it was becoming too obvious he'd moved up a grade and already gone through 3 separate Halloween episodes... The World gave up and allowed his birthday to come. And because 13 years old Teen Gumball means no Kid Gumball, Elmore no longer has a purpose and is ceasing to exist. Rob was trying to prevent this outcome by turning Elmore into a different genre of animated series, one that can exist without with a KidHero, such as a Slice of Life School Soap like BraceFace, but since he failed, the Eve before Gumball's birthday marked the end of Elmore- And the end of the show.

The reason he's so old in The Amazing World of gumball could either be because the Family Guy episode happened much earlier (As well as the fact that the cutaway is supposed to be a flashback) or really good makeup artists. Compare Mr. Finklehimer with the creature in the bottom left corner: [[http://familyguy.wikia.com/wiki/Academy_Award?file=Oscars.jpg]]

The Movie following the kid being sucked into Elmore starts on Gumball and Darwin stressing out about High School beginning in 5 days. Gumball and Darwin don't want to grow up so soon as they feel their best years are about to end. Over the course of the 1st act after they meet the fan we're led to believe that The Void wants to erase Elmore because it's a mistake. It turns out over time The Void was entirely controlled by an entity that started their master plan "The Reboot" in Season 3. We later find out it's the [[CorruptTheCutie kindhearted personality of Gumball from Season 1]] banished to The Void following Season 2 radically changing the show manifesting into a glitched up Gumball in his Season 1 artstyle. Much like how Molly and Rob were deemed mistakes Season 1 Gumball was deemed a mistake for being incompatible with the much edgier and more satirical show TAWOG would [[GrowingTheBeard then become]] and was exorcised from Gumball leaving a snarkier and more cynical character as the new Gumball. This made Season 1 Gumball bitter, led for him to electronically alter his voice to sound like a kid, to learn how to harness The Void's great power to erase anything he feels his reboot [RetGone wouldn't need]], and to kidnap Ben Bocquelet to have him write into the Cartoon Network notebook from "The Shippening" a Gumball Movie screenplay that would ultimately lead into Elmore rebooting into a timeline where Season 1 of Gumball never ended. Season 1 Gumball would declare "Nobody would ever have to grow as people because that's boring!" (Richard would still be a jerk Nicole would be angrier Darwin would be more naive and Gumball would have wacky lighthearted misadventures and be chipper) and "Everyone would be there for life everything can stay the same and we don't ever have to fear change ever again in other words it would be Gumball [[TitleDrop FOREVER]]!" The Wattersons Rob and The Fan defeating Season 1 Gumball at the film's end would be in a meta sense the show's staff rejecting the idea of [[BitingTheHandHumor Cartoon Network continuing TAWOG with no changes like other long running cartoons or rebooting it]] and finally allow the characters to grow up and be happy by the show TAWOG finally ending. Also The Series would be a [[JustForPun series of episodes]] that take place before [[GrandFinale The Movie]].

[[WMG:The fan who gets sent into Elmore in The Gumball Movie will be sent there through playing a forbidden dvd in a The Amazing World of Gumball Complete Series Boxset.]]
The show is already pretty meta so why not have the film's prologue be the aformentioned Gumball fan from the synopsis goes to a garage sale and purchases The Complete Series of Gumball and binges all 6 Gumball Seasons because he has nothing better to do over summer break. Upon being disappointed by "The Inquisition" he discovers a dvd hidden in the box labeled THE REAL GUMBALL FINALE. He puts it in his dvd player and that's how the portal bridging our world and Elmore is opened.

Pretty self explanatory and admittedly not very creative, but I'm pretty sure it's a law some where that you can't have a series/story in a fantastical setting. And I like the idea of the just series being a product of (presumably human) Gumball's childlike imagination better than the classic [[DyingDream dyeing]] or [[AdventuresInComaland coma induced]] dream theory.

And in both "The Job" and "The Test"

to:

And in both "The Job" and "The Test" Test", while Richard and Gumball were both making valiant efforts towards trying to help support his family and being a nicer guy, (the former being actually sincere in his efforts on top of that), they both didn't really have the character development to "earn" that change; Richard stumbles onto that job through dumb luck instead of actively working towards being an employable man/rabbit and looking for one, and while he does genuinely want to use his new job to help support his family, he's still too irresponsible to actually hold down a job. While Gumball is shown to have the potential to [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold become a better person in other episodes]], within the test, he's trying to force it while forcing down the sour sides of his personality, just for the sake of popularity, instead of making a sincere effort to slowly, but surely better himself over time.

In "The Job", Richard having a job almost is such a shocking and sudden turn [[BumblingDad for]] [[LazyBum his]] [[ManChild character]], that it literally almost ''rips the fabric of their world apart''. And similarly, Gumball forcefully (and unhealthily) bottling up his negative qualities to shift his personality to a NiceGuy in "The Test", causes the world to warp around to make Tobias the new protagonist.

All this seems to support the characters being forced into their roles in the story by their universe completely. But on the other hand, both Gumball and Darwin have been to defeat the WillTheyOrWontThey trope and officially get together with Penny and Carrie respectively (the latter also leading to a permanent change in Penny's character in process.), after earning it. And characters have been able to make strides towards self improvement within episodes without the universe going out of whack to restore the status quo. (Though they admittedly still fall back into old habits, thanks to AesopAmnesia, but still.)

Gumball, Darwin, and Mr. Smalls when even able to avert ''ChuckCunninghamSyndrome'' after rescuing Molly from The Void. Albeit, the events were wiped from their memories in the end. But they still got it back.

[[WMG: Obligatory It's all in one character or another's head in some fashion theory: Most if not all the weirdness is a product of Gumball's over active imagination.]]
Pretty self explanatory and admittedly not very creative, but I'm pretty sure it's a law some where that you can't have a series/story in a fantastical setting. And I like the idea of the just series being a product of (presumably human) Gumball's childlike imagination better than the classic [[DyeingDream dyeing]] or [[AdventuresInComaland coma induced]] dream theory.

And it isn't ''completely'' without precedent. As we have been shown that Gumball has an active imagination in the show. (Like in "The Plan", he gets side tracked having a time travel battle with his (imagined) past self ''within'' the ImagineSpot of the the titular plan, when the latter refuses to fix a screw up he made earlier in the plan.)

Maybe even the possibility of Gumball's world's enforced StatusQuoIsGod and possibility of it all being sucked into The Void, is an allegory for his refusal to grow up or something, and him deciding to accept that it's time to grow up will save the world in some fashion, while breaking the status quo. (Admittedly this one is more of a stretch, especially without knowing how things will ultimately play out, but who knows.)

[[WMG: CharacterDevelopement and changes to the status quo are possible within Elmore, only when the world feels the characters have ''earned them''.]]

And “fictional character” is interpreted 'very' loosely: Anything from a scrapped book or film character to a child’s drawing to a lost CompanionCube to an imaginary friend to a rock with eyes drawn on it to a stain or crack on a wall that someone thought looked like a face- Once they’re left behind, they go to Elmore.
