There's a white horse in ''Sleeping Beauty''. There's a white horse in ''WesternAnimation/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame''. There's a white horse in ''Mulan''. There's a white horse in ''Tangled''. Do they all look familiar? They all have the same design and the ''same personality''. There's an immortal, white horse who spends his time fucking around in fairy tales, and its most recent name is Maximus.

[[WMG:Eugene has depression.]]
In the first half of Tangled, Eugene is a Stepford Smiler and cynical of Rapunzel's optimism and belief. A positive facade and disbelief in positivity are known signs of depression. After the campfire scene, he drops the Stepford Smile and becomes sincere, but also sadder. Finally, there is his sacrifice for Rapunzel. This seems like a mistake until one considers that he would face hanging or continue a lonely existence if Rapunzel saved him. He chose to kill himself through Gothel and die next to Rapunzel. When Rapunzel revived and kissed him, he rediscovered the worth of life. In his narration after the story proper, he is cheery, but not in the forced, false way he was in the beginning, as he is now controlling his mental illness.
