This exists because it's not impossible per say and because I'm an [[SlidingScaleLongName idealist]], and want to have some kind of redemption or happy ending for these people somehow. Besides, RuleOfCool and (if we have one) Rule of Heartwarming - just picture the reconciliation with his father, the crossovers, the peace they could reach, [[HoYay the other solutions boredom could take]]... plus an ''eternity of five-way [[ThePlan super-planning]]'' How is that not awesome?

"I can totally make it this, time I have a Phoenix down!" *Tries to outrun the cops as health bar reaches zero* "Aw shit!"]] And L is there [[spoiler: at the end of the anime]] to tell him he needs to stop fooling around—[[HeartwarmingOrphan they have orphans]] [[TastesLikeDiabetes to bake cookies for]] and besides, it's Matt's turn to use the Xbox-he wants to play ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'' and [[spoiler: is under no illusions that the cops won't shoot this time.]]

Clothes and {{Fanon}} [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair hair-dye]] aside [[ReusedCharacterDesign they look very similar.]]

L is known to have a [[DarkAndTroubledPast Dark And Troubled]] MysteriousPast so maybe Wammy found L early enough that he could prevent him from becoming a SerialKiller and trained him to control his urges to become a ''detective'' instead, and [[HeroicWillpower L's many weird quirks are manifestations of his suppressed violent urges]]. Maybe that's what Wammy's house does: Mello and Near also have some [[TheSociopath sociopathic tendencies]] and B could be a less then successful outcome of that program. Like Dexter and Doakes [[FoeYay Light and L share an almost psychic connection]] [[FinishingEachOthersSentences often thinking the]] ''[[FinishingEachOthersSentences exact]]'' [[FinishingEachOthersSentences same thing]], like their Passengers are communicating with each other.

However, even after becoming a shinigami, he couldn't kill Light due to rule XXXIV. He was dead from the moment he picked up the notebook, he just never noticed (nor did anyone else.) That would explain his LackOfEmpathy and apparent [[{{Asexual}} lack of sex drive]]. As to why it affected Light in this way and not the other Kiras well, he had the [[DullEyesOfUnhappiness dull eyed]] look even before he picked it up. As stated in an above tin-foil hat theory maybe [[HalfHumanHybrid Light is part-Shinigami.]]

*** True, the moon has nothing to do with Light being the Antichrist. But he is saying that a kangi that reads "moon" is pronounced "Light" when it shouldn't be -- he's taking ItIsPronouncedTropAY to extremes. He only ''appears'' to be Light, but really isn't; thus, he is deceitful, a false Light, and the Antichrist.

** I imagine if the Yagami siblings knew about their cousin Kira they would freak out wanting nothing to do with him. Kari feels connected in some way to him in some way, she has depression but she’s getting visions of Ryuk and Kira saying they could help. Freaking out she tells her mom how she’s gets a therapist to help her out. She learns of the Death Note (a product made by evil Digimon) and learns how to get rid of it. She tells her brother who also has something in common with Kira, he’s gay. Eventually every chosen child knows of the Death Note and does their part in destroying them… Tai also gets a boyfriend and Kari lives a happy life being single.

This is why L [[IncrediblyLamePun zeroes]] in on Light immediately, he recognizes [[NotSoDifferent a kindred soul]], a Machiavellian bastard just like him or [[RoyallyScrewedUp his family]].

Light Yagami looks nothing like the rest of his family with his (red-)brown hair but he does kind of look like Series/{{Dexter}}. They could be (half-)brothers. Dexter, [[spoiler: The Ice Truck Killer]] and Light could share the same [[InTheBlood vicious bastard of a biological father]]. The mother was a Japanese woman and, after Light was concieved, she returned to Japan and either dies after giving birh or abandons the child and, [[PlotParallel like Dexter, Light is adopted by a police officer]] but that's where the similarities end. Light is very much "an unchecked version" because unlike Dexter who had Harry and the Code, Light was raised [[PureIsNotGood so sheltered and made to adhere to such strict morals that he can't cope with the very idea of evil in the world]] [[GoMadFromTheRevelation or himself]] in any terms other than KillItWithFire!!!!!111 (or rather heart attacks). However since Light didn't have the same trigger as Dexter [[spoiler: of sitting for days in his mother's blood.]] it took some [[ArtifactOfDoom extra]] [[ArtifactOfDeath encouragement]] to trigger his Dark Passanger. Notably when Light [[spoiler: forsakes the Death Note during the Yotsuba arc]] he lacks the same evil and cunning that he has when he uses it. [[AlwaysNeedWhatYouGaveUp Something similar happens to Dexter]] when he, for a time [[spoiler: loses his Passanger]] in the Dexter book series.
