Per TRS, this is YMMV, but marking it with an invoked tag since it's intentional.

* CameraScrew: The player's vision will occasionally be obscured by blizzards, smoke, foreground objects, and camera angle changes. Particularly egregious in some levels with jump drums.

** GreenHillZone: Marching Hills.
** DeathMountain: Rock Range and Metal Mountains.
** PalmtreePanic: Calypso Beach.
** BigFancyCastle: You'd think that Symphony City would give you one of these, given the castle takes center stage on the map. [[SubvertedTrope They never let you go in.]]
** CasinoPark: Showtime City has a feel of this.
** SlippySlideyIceWorld: Sleighbell Slopes.
** LethalLavaLand: Baroque Volcano.
** BubblyClouds: [[spoiler: Sky Roost's location.]]
*** [[spoiler: RemixedLevel: Surprisingly, all of the levels within, although Princess Ariana does mention that the places here are formed of his own mind.]]

Tempo, having found a magical staff [[ItMakesSenseInContext in the belly of a beast]], must bring it to Symphony City to give to a Harmoknight who could put an end to Gargan and his crones. Along the way he meets Lyra, a sharpshooting archer, and Tyko and Cymbi, who use drums and cymbals to take down their foes. Together, they reach Symphony City, only to find out that Gargan had captured its princess, [[DistressedDamsel Ariana]], putting everyone within the city into a deep slumber afterwards. With no one else to stop him, it's up to Tempo and his friends to find Gargan and defeat him themselves.
