* AnIcePerson: Iceman appears as one of the cloned X-Men and can freeze you in place with his attacks.
* BigBad: Apocalypse in theory, .
* BigGood: Magneto sets the PlayerCharacter on his mission and periodically communicates with him throughout the game.
* BloodierAndGorier: All the X-Men clones leave behind bloody, ravaged corpses when you kill them, assuming you don't use something like the flamethrower.
* BuildLikeAnEgyptian: A lot of the levels have Egyptian iconography, as is appropriate for bases under the control of Apocalypse.

* DarkerAndEdgier: It's an X-Men game that requires you to kill the X-Men. Repeatedly.
* EnergyAbsorption: Bishop appears as one of the cloned X-Men and absorbs certain kinds of gun fire, forcing you to get creative when he shows up.
* EverythingTryingToKillYou: As is par for the course for an FPS game.
* EvilIsNotWellLit: Much darker and more dimly lit than the traditionally colorful X-Men games that came before it.
* EyeBeams: Cyclops appears as one of the cloned X-Men, and as you might expect attacks with these.
* FlyingBrick: Rogue appears as one of the cloned X-Men and can put a hurting on you real quick with her attacks.
* GratuitousNinja: Psylocke appears as one of the cloned X-Men and can stun the player character with her psychic knife attack.
* Hijacked By : Yet again Apocalypse gets the rug swept out from under him in his own game, though at least this time his plans are mostly successful and it's hijacking his spotlight rather than .
* HubLevel: The X-Mansion serves as this.
* HyperspaceArsenal: Given at least a flimsy justification with the PlayerCharacter being a cyborg that forms his arms into the different weapons you'll use.
* ImmuneToBullets: Archangel appears as one of the cloned X-Men and is immune to rockets, using his metallic wings to shield himself from them.
* KillItWithFire: A flamethrower is one of the weapons the player can acquire, and yes, you can reduce the X-Men to charred skeletons with it.

* VillainProtagonist: You're a robot soldier that serves Magneto.

to:

* PowerFloats: And the Rogue clones prove it.
* PowerOfTheGodHand: One of the more powerful weapons you can use is a homing beam fired from your open palm.
* SaveScumming: As in the base game, you can save and reload at any time. Which is handy, since you will die. A lot.
* SlasherSmile: If you let the Wolverine clones get close enough, you'll see they all have these.
* SpiritualSuccessor: Of a sort to VideoGame/XMen2CloneWars due to their shared cloning theme.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: Because Wolverine continuously comes back to life, a favorite pastime for players of this game is to lure him into a lava pit where he'll die and revive endlessly for the PlayerCharacter's (and the player's) amusement.
* VillainProtagonist: You're a robot Cyborg soldier that serves Magneto.

X-Men: The Ravages Of Apocalypse, developed by Zero Gravity Entertainment and released by [=WizardWorks=] Software, is a commercial total conversion of the Quake engine. Replacing the old maps and weapons are new designs, and all of the enemies in the game have been replaced with cyborg clones of popular X-Men characters, all with their own special powers—for example Archangel is immune to rockets, Wolverine has his healing factor, etc.

Being a total conversion rather than a completely new game, it required the full version of Quake to be played.

The game was released as freeware in July 2006. The source code of the game was also released, but under an ambiguous license. Modifications have been made to the game to allow it to run as a standalone title.
