'''Super Robot Wars K''' is the second UsefulNotes/NintendoDS-released ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'', which more or less reuses the visual and combat engine from ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsW'', with some new additions and some rather unorthodox debuting series as well. Once again, it has no Universal Century ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'', no ''Manga/GetterRobo'', and no ''[[Anime/GreatMazinger Mazinger]]'' except for the original, which either upset the traditionalists or made players desperate for new blood happy.

** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny ZAFT]] is generally portrayed in a much more negative light than in ''SEED Destiny'' proper. Most of the Minerva crew act just as antagonist towards the Archangel crew as they did in the source material, in spite of the latter group not doing anything to provoke them here. The invasion of ORB also doesn't even have the slim justification of capturing Djibril like it did in the anime, as said character died before it happened.

* DeathByAdaptation: A very, ''very'' rare example in the entire SRW franchise: if you don't complete the [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Fafner]] secrets, all the Fafner pilots will be doomed to die from their untreatable assimilation phenomenon. Also, [[spoiler: Soushi dies ''even if you save the others'']].

** In the final ''Kotetsushin Jeeg'' scenario, [[spoiler: when [[Anime/KotetsuJeeg Kenji Kusanagi]] goes berserk over [[Anime/KotetsuJeeg Tsubaki Tamashiro and Kyo Misumi]] being supposedly KilledOffForReal,[[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Kanon Memphis]] is one of the heroes who tries to calm him down. Her character portrait will ''always'' be the one where she pilots the [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Mark Drei]], even if you get the Fafner secrets and you don't have Kanon in the Mark Drei]].
* FunWithHomophones: When [[Anime/KotetsushinJeeg Kyou]] was explaining that Festums are SiliconBasedLife forms, Kenji Kusanagi misunderstood that it's the same material for [[FakeBoobs enhancing women's breasts]]. Kyou clarifies that that's "silicone" and it also has silicon as a component.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Downplayed with the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Archangel crew]]; they were really villainous in the source material, but they did interrupt battles between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT and attack both sides without explaining their reasons. In this game, however, they never employ any questionable methods, with them even driving away some ORB soldiers attacking the Minerva crew.
* AdaptationalNationality: The inhabitants of the planets [[Anime/GunXSword Endless Illusion]] and [[Anime/ZoidsGenesis Zi]] are changed to be from the second Earth.

* AdaptationalVillainy: While [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Hester Gallop and Mitsuhiro Bartland]] are already villains in their home series, they are made even worse in this game by having them work with [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Lord Djibril]]. Hester in particular is shown to fully support his genocidal agenda against Coordinators.

** Some of the one-shot villains from ''Gun X Sword'', including [[spoiler: Joe Lutz and Hayeta, who are somewhat important to said series' storyline]].

* TheVirus: The [[Anime/{{Godannar}} Insania Virus]]; story-wise, the fact that Kouji Tetsuya can be sortied in scenarios and not be infected with the virus, ''despite'' being [[spoiler:injured and benched for a good amount of the ''Godannar'' plot]], raises questions. Likewise, as the Insania Virus [[spoiler:specifically targets {{hotblood}}ed male pilots]], no other pilots in the playable roster are seemingly affected by it. Hopefully, Banpresto sorts this problem out the next time ''Godannar'' reappears.
** Kouji Tetsuya had a very rare immunity to the virus caused by his DNA being unsuitable to it (for reasons that are never explained, mind). The real question is how the pilots not from ''Anime/{{Godannar}}'' avoid it.

** Because the game skips the plot of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'' until the point where Auel is already dead, and Stella and Sting have already received Destroy Gundams, their old Gundams - Abyss, Gaia and Chaos - never show up in game. The Saviour Gundam also doesn't seem to exist in this continuity, as Athrun never gets into a fight with Kira, yet is still piloting a Gouf when he gets shot down by Shinn.

** The [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Orb Union]] was funding various organizations such as the [[Anime/{{Godannar}} Dannar Base]] and the [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Fafner Project]]. This is part of the reason why the other mecha from ''Godannar'' do a BigDamnHeroes during the Invasion of Orb, though it's small compared to the reason of invading countries that don't agree with your plan is wrong.

* DayInTheLimeLight: The plot of ''K'' is appears focused on redeeming Cagalli. It basically rewrites the ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' plot as if Cagalli were the protagonist. She does such things as hopping into a mass-production mobile suit in order to fight and defeat one of the Fafner villains (previously established in the ''K'' setting as being a hardcore badass) and basically leading the hero faction as the BigGood of the game. She does hand the Akatsuki over to [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Neo Roanoke]], but because she's literally busy running a war, the player can plop her right back into it. She even redeems [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Yuna Roma Seiran]] and makes him into Orb's ambassador to the United Nations. Although events still stays mostly focused on the Orb side of things, thus more [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Kira Yamato]]-centric than Shin-centric, it's really Cagalli's who takes the spotlight. ''K'' also returns Cagalli's "SEED Mode" pilot skill, something which was missing in ''Gundam SEED Destiny''.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Outside of taking down the {{Final Boss}}es from some of the works crossed over like [[Anime/OvermanKingGainer the Overdevil]], [[Franchise/{{Zoids}} Emperor Jiin's Bio Tyrano]], [[Anime/GaikingLegendOfDaikuMaryu Proist's King Darius the 18th]], [[Anime/GunXSword Birthday]], [[Anime/KotetsuJeeg Susanoh]], and [[VideoGame/VirtualON Tangram]] and K's original BigBad, every single one of the Festum count as {{Cosmic Horror}}s. In the series, Fafner machines were required to even have a ''chance'' at killing them. Probably the most prominent PowerCreepPowerSeep for {{mook}}s in a while.

* PerspectiveFlip: As the cover might tell you, you see the entire ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' plot solely from Kira's side. Even the AttractMode has Shinn on the enemy side! Since most of the show's plot is [[AdaptedOut glossed over]], and you get Shinn and Lunamaria immediately afterwards (''Gundam SEED Destiny's'' plot begins on Scenario 14A and ends on Scenario 19), most, if any, complaints aren't all that vocal.
* PostScriptSeason: The ''Anime/{{Dangaioh}}'' plot essentially runs with the idea that [[Anime/{{Dangaioh}} Miya Alice]] and everyone managed to destroy [[Anime/{{Dangaioh}} Captain Garimoth and the Bunker]] and Gil Berg's attempts at getting revenge on them for it. ''Mazinger Z'' also has completed its run by the time ''K'' begins.

* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill - Solvrias Rex's "Regret Buster" not only punches the enemy, but launches it into space, fires a beam at it, rides inside the beam, tears a hole inside the enemy (most likely to the sub-atomic level or another dimension based on the structure) and destroys it from the inside out.

* SomethingWeForgot: Despite being on the game's cover art, Gaiking's axe never appears in ''K''

* AdaptedOut: The majority of the plot of ''Gundam SEED Destiny'' and its characters, several non-Dannar Base pilots, most of the one-shot villains from ''Gun X Sword'', including [[spoiler: Joe Lutz and Hayeta, who are somewhat important to said series' storyline]].

The trait in question is his [[TheNicknamer nickname of]] Daiya as "Mr. Gaiking". He calls [[Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar Goh Saruwatari]] "Mr. Godannar" and [[Anime/GunXSword Van]] "Mr. Gun X Sword". The "Gun" part, however, refers to [[Anime/GunXSword Wendy Garret]] and her revolver, ''not'' Van's rivalry with [[Anime/GunXSword Ray Lundgren]].

* DemotedToExtra: Many characters from ''Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar'' only appear in intermission scenes; their respective mecha don't even appear at all.

* FixFic: While limited for unlocking {{Secret Character}}s, some [=NPCs=] can be saved, such as [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Tsubaki Minashiro]], where she returns with [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Kazuki Makabe]] and company to continue as MissionControl, since [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Soushi Minashiro's]] [[TheVirus infection]] prevents him from doing so after defeating the Festum, and [[Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar Moukaku]]. In a twist, if [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Meer Campbell]] survives, she becomes captain of the Minerva and is allowed to officially become [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Lacus Clyne's]] [[AscendedFanboy figurehead]] by Lacus herself.

** During the post-battle dialogue of Scenario 11, [[Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar Anna]] asks [[Anime/ZoidsGenesis Ruuji]] if Murasame Liger combined with something to turn red like Godannar. This is a reference to the Organoids, which are present in ''Anime/ZoidsChaoticCentury'' and several ''Franchise/{{Zoids}}'' CrisisCrossover video games at that time but not ''Genesis''. Like how Anna's Neo Okusaer enters the body of Goh's Dannar to transform it into the Godannar, Organoids are smaller Zoids that enter larger Zoids to boost their performance.

Among those hit the hardest is [[Anime/ZoidsGenesis Ruuji]], who is from a [[SmallSecludedWorld small, secluded village]] in a geographically isolated continent of [[TheOutsideWorld the other Earth]]. * GlassCannon: ''Godannar'' machines hurt like ''hell'' when they get up to speed. Unfortunately, they're very easy to hit and have ridiculously thin armor. The Gundams, King Gainer and the Jeegs are similarly not as robust, but hit like trucks. The [[Anime/GunXSword Brownie]], however, is a textbook example in ''K''.

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Soushi essentially sacrifices himself to defeat Lu Cobol]].

* KarmicDeath: Gil Berg finally gets it, after being a KarmaHoudini in the series proper.
* LordBritishPostulate: Lu Cobol's first machine Gustadio retreats once you reduce it to 50% of its HP. It's actually possible, through very, ''very'' careful manipulations of Spirit Commands, attack damage levels and a [[Anime/MazingerZ Rust Hurricane]] to destroy it.

* NumberOfTheBeast: Interestingly, the Edax machine that either [[spoiler:Angelica's father or Sheldia's sister]] will pilot is exactly 66.6 meters tall. Once the pilot is free, [[spoiler:the robot becomes sentient]].

** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDCE73Stargazer Sven, Shams and Mudie]] in the first half of the game.

* RocketPunch: Naturally, Mazinger Z's, but be prepared to find Dangaioh, Gaiking and the Jeegs throwing in a few of their own.

* BagOfHolding: More like "Pouch of Holding", but [[Anime/OvermanKingGainer King Gainer's]] leg pouch becomes this in its animations. What makes it strange is that King Gainer pulls its Chain Gun from its pouch every time it attacks, despite having a physical Chain Gun holstered on its back at the start of the series proper.
** It's more HyperspaceArsenal: one of King Gainer's many abilities is pulling stuff out from the fourth dimension. Yes, it didn't pull a second chain gun from its pouch, but from [[{{Hammerspace}} thin air]].

** The [[SuperMovePortraitAttack portrait cut-ins]] for the [[Anime/GunXSword Dahlia of Wednesday's]] strongest attack are of its pilot [[MsFanservice Fasalina]] wearing...ah...''very suggestive'' facial expressions.

* ArcWelding: An example would be how the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Orb Union]] was funding various organizations such as the [[Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar Dannar Base]] and the [[Anime/FafnerInTheAzureDeadAggressor Fafner Project]]. This is part of the reason why the other mecha from ''Godannar'' do a BigDamnHeroes during the Invasion of Orb, though it's small compared to the reason of invading countries that don't agree with your plan is wrong.

* BigBadWannabe: [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsK Verinee]] might not be as severe as [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Wilheim von Juergen]], but being one of the earlier original villains to be [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAsLidOaW-U killed off by]] [[Anime/{{Dangaioh}} Gil-Barg]] instead of the protagonist and his allies puts her here.

* FreezeFrameBonus: The [[SuperMovePortraitAttack portrait cut-ins]] for the [[Anime/GunXSword Dahlia of Wednesday's]] strongest attack are of its pilot [[MsFanservice Fasalina]] wearing...ah...''very suggestive'' facial expressions.

* ShoutOut: [[Anime/GunXSword El Dora Five's]] "El Inferno Y Cielo" is basically a blatant lookalike of the "[[Anime/GaoGaiGar Hell And Heaven]]" attack, designed only for ''K''.

** Let's not forget [[Anime/OvermanKingGainer the Overdevil]], [[Franchise/{{Zoids}} Emperor Jiin's Bio Tyrano]], [[Anime/GaikingLegendOfDaikuMaryu Proist's King Darius the 18th]], [[Anime/GunXSword Birthday]], [[Anime/KotetsuJeeg Susanoh]], [[VideoGame/VirtualON Tangram]] and the BigBad.

** ''Fafner'' also takes this to insane levels. It's an all-or-nothing secret with multiple {{route split}}s, kill requirements and in-mission decisions you have to get exactly right. Oh, and the first step? It relies on upgrading the Mark Elf so that the Mark Sechs will inherit the upgrades and have attacks which, with SaveScumming, ''might'' be enough to kill the Festum. Good luck figuring that out on your own.

* MythologyGag: [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Rey Za Burrel and the Legend's]] [[AttackDrone DRAGOON attack]] features him striking a pose similar to [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED Rau Le Cruset in the Providence]] from ''Judgment'' and ''W''.

* ShipSinking: For what's probably the first time ever in [=SRW=], a CANON ship - from ''Overman King Gainer'' - gets torpedoed. ''K'' unties the [[StrangledByTheRedString strangling red string]] around [[spoiler:Adette]] and [[spoiler:Gauli's]] necks and [[spoiler:keeps Adette and Yassaba together]].
* ShoutOut: The overture of the fourth movement of Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony in E minor is played as a reference to Daiya's [[Creator/MayumiTanaka voice actor]], who also had this music playing for him when he defeated the BigBad in one arc of ''Manga/OnePiece''.
** Not exactly: the music was also used for [[spoiler:Proist]].
** Also the [[Anime/GunXSword El Dora Five's]] "El Inferno Y Cielo" is basically a blatant lookalike of the "[[Anime/GaoGaiGar Hell And Heaven]]" attack, designed only for ''K''.

* PlotHole: There are quite a number of them laden throughout the game's backstory that almost steer into FridgeLogic territory. For the most part, a lot of the holes originate with backstory conflicts. For instance, the "War of the Titans" (what kickstarted ''Godannar'') is explained in such a way that it gives the impression that the entire cast of ''Godannar'' should be '''40 years older''' than they actually are. This is because of the connection to the sealing of the Jama Kingdom, as it took place about a decade before the War of the Titans, which itself was supposed to be 50 years prior to the start of ''Koutetsushin Jeeg''. Either the script writer got lazy or did not properly check to see if there would be conflicts in the history.
