Good point with the Genre Savvy, but a bit wordy and confusing

However, the Marleybone's Royal Navy is beginning to regroup and the Valencian navy of clockworks is growing. The clockwork's leader Commander Kane has made it his personally duty to hunt down and bring piracy to an end and claim the entire Spiral under their flag. While rumors of pieces of a treasure map to an entire island made of gold have brought may young greenhorns hoist the colors while stirring older pirates from their [[RetiredBadAss retirement]] and even some from their "[[HesJustHiding graves]]".

It takes place in the same setting as ''Wizard101'' but the two games' stories do not interact. Pirates are a superstitious lot and thus avoid wizards (the witchdoctor class uses a completely different type of magic then wizards) Most of the Spiral believes the affairs of wizards are strange, mysterious, and best ignored. While wizards are reclusive and avoid getting involved in non-magical affairs.

As the war went on some mercenaries began to [[OnlyInItForTheMoney switch allegiances based on who offered the greatest profit]], some eventually [[WildCard swore off all allegiance and pillaged all ships they saw.]] Thus the first {{Pirate}}s were born.

Now the war has ended and all the great navies are broken and licking their wounds allowing pirates to to pillage and plunder to their heart's desire. This golden age of piracy began and the pirate's even changed the thieves den of Skull Island into a republic.

Upon finding out it was Captain Fowl in his second promotion, Ratbeard will say, "Fowl! He took me leg, killed me father, burned me house, an' stole me parrot."
* BigBad: Kane, the first and leader of the clockworks.
* BornLucky / BornUnlucky: Boochbeard has almost [[Literature/{{Discworld}} Rincewind]] type luck since he is almost always thwarted in his plans but he always escapes to try again another day. He also has way of always being present when important events happen.
* ChessWithDeath: [[spoiler: Captain Blood]] became immortal by challenging Death to a poker game and Death accepted. Death has a gambling problem. The twist is Death has the winning hand, but when he played his hand first [[spoiler: Blood]] left to go to the bathroom and never returned. Since the game is technically still going one he can't be killed.
* ClockPunk: Valencia's armada is manned by an army of clockworks. [[https://kingsisle.hs.llnwd.net/e1/image/free/Pirate/Images/armada-marine.gif?v=2 They are incredibly beautifully built.]]
* CoolAirship: Hand in hand with the SkyPirates theme.
* DraggedOffToHell / WingedSoulFliesOffAtDeath: The defeat animation for the cursed monquistadors does an impressive job of combining these two.
* DeathFromAbove: The Privateer ability Gunnery. It can attack any 3x3 square on the board.
* DefeatEqualsFriendship: Several of your crew members will begin as enemies.
* DefeatMeansPlayable: A couple of bosses that do not join the players crew can be unlocked in the crown shop. Depending on the player's class they may join the player for free.
** There are also three bosses that become available in the crown shop once they have been defeated multiple times.
* DummiedOut: Tiberon the stormshark companion was suppose to became available in the crown shop after defeating him but once the game went live, the badge that served the flag that added him to the crown shop was removed.
* EverythingIsBetterWithMonkeys: Monquistans
* EverythingIsBetterWithPenguins: Polarians are a bunch of French penguins. They are more dangerous than they sound. Had Valencia not created the clockworks, Nepolenguin would have conquered the entire spiral.
* EverythingsBetterWithPlatypi: The Watermoles are a tribal pirate faction. There are two groups the Nui, friendly traders, and the Waponi a warlike tribe that are xenophobic to the point of hating even the Nui.
* EverythingIsWorseWithBears: One of the species from Grizzleheim. However, they have tried to remain neutral in the wars.
* {{Expy}}: Subverted with Captain Avery being one for Merle Ambrose. While they could pass as twins, Avery quickly shows he's not above using ExactWords to cheat the player.
* FragileSpeedster: The Swashbuckler class
* GiantMecha: The player pilots one to fight a Stormzilla.
* GreatOffscreenWar: The backstory for the origins of the pirates.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Ratbeard]] does one when you save him after his new allies betray him.
** Quite a few others including Old Scratch.
* HollywoodVoodoo: The Witchdoctor class
* IHaveManyNames: Boochbeard has collected quite a few in his long career. This being Boochbeard, none are particularly BadAss.
* TheMafia: Frogfather's Syndicate is the most powerful group of smugglers in the spiral.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Mr. Gandry is rumored to be behind Boochbeard's operations.
* MightyGlacier: The Buccaneer class
* MonsterClown: Phule, one of the member's of Kane's court. Despite being a machine he has a SplitPersonality that corresponds with which side of his mask the camera is facing. The white smile has a certain level of respect and the black frown just wants you dead.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Captain Blood, one of the most evil pirates to ever exist. Fortunately, they claim he met his end a few years ago. [[spoiler: [[HesJustHiding yeah right]]]]
* TheNapoleon: Napolenguin, the ultimate [[TheChessMaster chess master]]. [[SmugSnake Or so he'd have you believe.]]
* NotSoSafeHarbor: Skull Island is suppose to be type 1 but as this is a family game it will probably be fairly safe.
* OurWormholesAreDifferent: The Stormgates are giant whirlpool like [[BuffySpeak swirly things]] that enable ships to travel between the worlds of the spiral.
* ThePasswordIsAlwaysSwordfish: Subverted, The player is first told that the password to see Frogfather is "swordfish", the real pasword is "ribbet". This seems like a stupid idea for a [[TheMafia mafia]] of [[PettinZooPeople anthropomorphic frogs]] to choose for a password, because it's so silly nobody has ever guessed it.
* PettingZooPeople: As with Wizard101, they make up a large potion of the Spiral's population.
* {{Precursors}}: The Aztecasaurs, a race so old they lived on the first world alongside the titans before it was destroyed. Their empire had dwindled to only Azteca since the first world was shattered. Unfortunately, Azteca was destroyed when [[ColonyDrop a comet collided with it]] leaving only their ruins on different worlds of the spiral. [[spoiler: Azteca is still around and it's denizens are still alive as well]]
** The Celestians and citizens of El Dorado were two extremely powerful civilizations that developed magic and technology beyond anything the rest of the spiral has. El Dorado had such power that when it's people died off the Celestians used their power to make it's Stormgate appear and vanish in a way that was almost impossible to use to prevent anyone from accessing El Dorado and it's magic. Afterwards the [[ChaoticNeutral Storm Lord]] sank their civilization when they asked him for help in a war. It's rumored that there are powers in El Dorado that could destroy the spiral if awakened.
* PuzzleBoss: Some fights require facing the boss with a different tactic than just attack everything. Either the player must compete additional objectives to win or at least make the boss vulnerable.
** The most infamous fight is the GiantMecha fight with Stormzilla. In a plain hand to hand fight Stormzilla will win because it will have more health than the player, gets two to three attacks per turn compared to the player's one and if the player doesn't destroy the eggs quickly minions will join it. The player has to learn to use the Mecha's abilities and how to use the battlefield to win.
* RetiredBadAss: Captain Horace Avery, the most successful pirate in history. He's forsaken the sail and is now the Steward of Skull Island after he won it in a bet from the previous governor.
* SceneryPorn: Kings Isle has vastly improved their graphics from when {{Wizard101}} was first released. The whole purpose of Catbeard's Lair is to show off just what Kings Isle can do.
* ShatteredWorld: This takes place in the same Spiral as Wizard 101 made of a bunch islands that are the remaining pieces of the first world after it was shattered by the war between the dragons, ice giants, and tritons and stitched together in the spiral shape by the grandfather tree.
* ShoutOut: Similar to {{Wizard101}} to may to list. Don't even try to start one.
* SquishyWizard: The Witchdoctor class has the lowest base health and does not naturally learn to wear armor. Partially averted in that they can learn to wear light armor for the cost of a SkillPoint.[[hottip:*:Originally the plan was for witchdoctors to never learn how to wear any armor.]]
* TangledFamilyTree: Perhaps one of the most massive cases of this, '''all''' of Monquistia is at least a third cousin of some former king. Their marriages are so twisted and tangled that the family trees look like cobwebs made by drunken spiders.
* TookALevelInBadass: Your companions do this when you promote them.
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters: The clockworks [[GoneHorriblyRight have become the most powerful navy in the spiral and are increasing the power of Valencia]] but have enslaved the people of Valencia and are destroying entire floating islands, and not always removing all it's inhabitants before they do so, to create [[DoomsdayDevice The Machine]].
* SkyPirate: Since there aren't many seas on the spiral, this is the main way to travel.
* TheWeirdWest: Cool Ranch, Considering that the western outlaws could be considered a Western version of pirates. This is a bit of FridgeBrilliance.
* VillainExitStageLeft: Deacon pulls this off in the tutorial after injuring Boochbeard. Later on Ratbeard does this as well.
* WildCard: The Monquistans are quick to change alliances since they are very easily offended. Boochbeard's second in command, Mr. Gandry, literally served in three different navies before becoming a pirate.
* WhipItGood: El Toro uses one for both attacking to swing over obstacles. [[BeyondTheImpossible He can even latch onto thin air with it.]]
* YouAllMeetInACell: The player starts off as a captive of the Valencian Clockworks but is rescued by Boochbeard
