* CutenessOverload: The "Return to Breezie Hollow" event reveals that Fluttershy loves the Breezies so much that she can't stand how cute they are. When Breezie replicas of her friends are made (via a spell by Twilight that went haywire), she get so overwhelmed by their cuteness that she [[TearsOfJoy bursts into tears]] for a brief moment, before immediately composing herself and trying to help the Breezie replicas. At the end of the event, when it is revealed that Discord is still a Breezie, Fluttershy lets out an excited "EEEEP!" before taking him back to her house to finish their tea party.

* ObviousBeta: At first, given the bugs, unbalanced gameplay and crashing. Alleviated for the most part with its first update.

* SequelEpisode: The Thracian Infiltration is this to the Feats of Friendship comic. The storyline involves Swiftfoot returning to the School of Friendship to ask Starlight Glimmer to help convince her father King Diomedes from attacking Equestria.

* OffModel:
** Prior to the Hearth's Warming Eve 2013 update, Flash Sentry was missing his wings, and his in-game model had black slits on his body for where his wings should be.
** For Lightning Dust's model, whenever she blinks, her eyes suddenly transform into a different pony's eyes, and the pigmentation around them will change from light green to orange! It's only for a brief second, and tapping on her to make her dance will give her normal closed eyes, but it's still noteworthy.
** Similarly, Sweetie Belle's eyelids get darker whenever she closes her eyes.
** [[http://derpiboo.ru/157583 Applejack has two ponytails,]] one on each side of her neck.
** Many of the game's newer ponies have mugshots that are [[YourSizeMayVary larger]] than the mugshots of ponies introduced when the game was first launched. Just about every pony introduced in the Sweet Apple Acres update is affected by this, and in some cases, the mugshots are not even lined up properly with the horseshoe frame, such as Granny Smith's.
** Twilight remains a unicorn in the minecart game even after you've ascended her to alicorn.
** Ms. Harshwhinny's in-game model is not portrayed with the same angry eyes normally associated with her character.
** Some of the characters have not had their sprites updated to reflect changes seen over the course of the show; Babs Seed doesn't have her new cutie mark, and the game uses the filly versions of Pinkie Pie's sisters Limestone and Marble Pie. Pipsqueak is also still wearing his Nightmare Night pirate costume despite having appeared without it since "Luna Eclipsed". Likewise, up until the December 2017 update, Starlight Glimmer's model had not undergone the ExpositoryHairstyleChange seen in season 6.

* PlayEveryDay: The game used to provide a daily reward for every day the player logged in. The current version gives increasing rewards up to and including a free pony or shop, but subverts this trope in that players won't lose progress in a given prize track if they miss a day.

* AndYourRewardIsClothes: By collecting materials via spending five Gems per three materials or winning said materials via other methods (or just [[AdamSmithHatesYourGuts buying the outfits outright with several hundred Gems each]]), the Mane Six can be decked out in numerous different outfits. An entire update (released June 2016) was dedicated to this feature. The outfits each have different perks, though - a boost in collecting bits, bonus points in the mine cart game, or bonus points toward stars.

This game plays similarly to other mobile village simulators such as ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs Village'' and ''VideoGame/TheSimpsonsTappedOut'', with you collecting bits and gems and heart crystals to rebuild Ponyville, unlock more items and ponies and eventually defeat Nightmare Moon. As it is very closely bound to the mythology and themes of its parent cartoon, you can refer to the trope pages for the cartoon as well for even more info related to this game.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Not only does the game have all the primary and secondary characters from the show, but practically every background pony you can think of is available as well (nearly 300 in total as of the December 2016 update).

* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: Everfree Forest: Compared to the first three villages available, this one does not qualify as a full village; the only ponies able to reside there are the Mane Six (despite Zecora living there in the show), and the player must clear the darkness in a sequence. None of the scenery items can be moved as well.

*** The Android version has a nasty bug where the timer ''[[UnwinnableByMistake never]]'' [[UnwinnableByMistake ticks down]]. It just stays at 24:00:00, and never counts down.

** Applejack: [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagics2E6TheCutiePox Speakin' in fancy]].

** The description for the bowling alley reads "Where anypony can try their hoof at bowling ([[MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagics2E6TheCutiePox except the Cutie Mark Crusaders]])."
** A good bit of the OST is instrumental versions of songs from the show. Heck, the ''title screen'' music is [[MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed The Smile Song]].

** Two of the four ponies who showed up in ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E6TheCutiePox The Cutie Pox]]'' bearing a resemblance to characters from ''Film/TheBigLebowski'' now bear names similar to their human counterparts, and a third one (the one resembling Walter Sobchak) is simply referred to as "Bowling Pony" in gameplay but gets named Walter [[DummiedOut in the code]].

** In "The Pinkie Parents Problem" event, one of the stages is framed as Pinkie trying to understand her parents by thinking of it as an event challenge in her mind, complete with "imagining shooting Insight Orbs at mental images of [her] mom and dad".

* ScareQuotes: In "The Pinkie Parents Problem" event, Lyra tells Pinkie a "hypothetical" story about "two totally made-up twin ponies" and their parents to get around not being able to directly tell her about the Cakes' future. At the end of the story, Pinkie's tone as she plays along with the charade is indicated through the use of scare quotes around her words.
