The first game, ''Gal*Gun'', was released for the UsefulNotes/{{Xbox 360}} in 2011 and UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 in 2012 [[NoExportForYou only in Japan]], but thanks to Ekoro's unexpected popularity as a playable character in ''VideoGame/MightyGunvolt'', ''Gal*Gun'' made the jump overseas with its first international game, ''Gal*Gun Double Peace'' for the UsefulNotes/PlayStation4, UsefulNotes/PlaystationVita and PC in 2015. A VR spinoff title was also released for [=PCs=] known as ''Gal*Gun VR'', whose style and mechanics would later become the basis for the third main series title, ''Gal*Gun 2'' ([[SequelNumberSnarl yes, the third game is officially labelled "2"]]) for the UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch, [=PS4=] and PC in 2018. A remastered version of the first game, titled ''Gal*Gun Returns'', released in 2021 for the Switch and PC via UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} to celebrate the franchise's [[MilestoneCelebration 10th anniversary]].

''Gal*Gun'' is a RailShooter series developed by Creator/IntiCreates. The premise is different from most other rail shooters out there — instead of shooting zombies or enemy troops with guns, here you have to [[UnwantedHarem stop a mob of lovestruck girls]] with a [[ThePowerOfLove Pheromone Shot]]. [[WidgetSeries It's something so utterly insane that only the Japanese could have created it]].

* CuttingOffTheBranches: Aoi is present in ''Double Peace'', which suggests that she did not become Tenzou's girlfriend. Her ending in Double Peace [[spoiler:has her take Houdai as her new manager, with her immunity to the Pheromone Shot meaning he never gets to find out if she's his girlfriend in time]].

* HaremEnding: In ''Double Peace'', you don't have to just go with one girl; sometimes, you can pick multiple girls.

* DownloadableContent: There's a lot of it, typically alternate outfits for the girls. Taken UpToEleven with ''Double Peace'', which has $90 DLC that allows you to see through the girls' clothes (notably not available to European console gamers).

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: ''Double Peace'' has 70 different {{mook}} girls you fend off. Every single one has a name and a unique personality descriptions you can look up in the student roster. And every single one is a potential love interest.

* PantyShot: Pretty much unavoidable due to some of the poses made by the girls after being incapacitated and their skirts flipping around when something happens to them. A patch in the Xbox 360 version of the first game made it impossible to aim the camera lower than the hemline of a girl's skirt in Doki Doki Mode, but said patch was not included in the [=PS3=] version. It's very prevalent in ''Double Peace'' due to multiple instances of girls jumping off of higher ledges while wearing skirts. And on several routes, you'll be in a hole or under a bench only to have a girl walk directly above you.
