On a small unnamed planet that was located inside an asteroid belt at the outskirts of the universe, there was a community that lived unknowing of the modern wonders of the Earth. Transportation was still done by horses, communication only by mouth and all work was done by manual labour.
The Elders of the community once told the Youngers not to venture over the hills to the south, since they backed on to what they believed was the edge of the 'verse, and no-one knew what would happen should mortal mind witness what was there. All took heed of the Elder's words. All but one. A simple teenage girl, who questioned the Elders logic. How would they know what was there if they themselves hadn't been?
With a mixture of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, and to find out what really was behind the hills, the girl waited until nightfall. Sneaking past the elder's guards, she ran over the hills and towards the unknown. When she got there, she found herself staring into a giant mirror. She saw herself staring back. But she also saw behind the mirror. Her many birthdays, school tests, times spent with friends. Her Past. The Elder's talking to her and the other Youngers. The vision of herself looking into the mirror. Her Present. And she saw herself gaining control of time itself. Her Future.
But... She saw much more than that. She saw every past historical event from every race, every present activity and the aftermaths of all the beings in the universe. Amazed at what she had seen, she touched the mirror. A massive crack appeared down the middle. A white beam of light appeared from the crack and seemed to engulf her. As soon as it had started, it had finished. Confused and dizzy, the girl looked around for the mirror. It had gone. Instead, the contents of what she had seen were now stored up inside her brain. And there was a scar on her hand where she had touched the mirror. The same shape as the crack.
She had become the Crack in Time.
