** After Ace Frehley left, before they brought in Vinnie Vincent, KISS seriously considered bringing in Eddie Van Halen. Gene had briefly managed Van Halen before they got their record deal and Eddie was very unhappy with the direction of the band at the time (particularly his frequent clashes with David Lee Roth and being forced to record so many covers). Ultimately both KISS and Eddie decided it would be best if Eddie stuck with Van Halen and KISS sought a new guitarist elsewhere.

** After Ace Frehley left, before they brought in Vinnie Vincent, KISS seriously considered bringing in Eddie Van Halen. Gene had briefly managed Van Halen before other guitarists:
*** They spoke to a young 19-year-old, unknown Swede named Music/YngwieMalmsteen. They asked him if he was hot, and what his height was (they were trying to gauge how he looked, as
they got their record deal and Eddie had no pictures of him). He answered "192" (centimeters). Not realizing he was speaking metric, the conversation ended.
*** One of the guitarists they auditioned was a kid from Philadelphia named Saul Hudson, who they turned down because he was only 18 years old (in his book, Paul Stanley said he
was very unhappy with nice at the direction audition). He would go on to greater fame as Slash of Music/GunsNRoses.
*** Gene Simmons has frequently said that Eddie Music/VanHalen wanted to join
the band at the time (particularly his frequent clashes in 1982, fed up with dealing with David Lee Roth Roth. He claims he told Eddie Kiss was HIS band, and being forced he would have to record so many covers). Ultimately both KISS do what he was told and have no say in the music, to which Eddie decided it would be best if Eddie stuck to stay with Van Halen Halen. According to Paul Stanley, this is just a legend. He and KISS sought a new guitarist elsewhere.Eddie spoke on the phone in 1982, during the time when Eddie's frustrations with Dave were becoming unbearable, and asked for advice on how to handle the idea that his band might fall apart.

* ReclusiveArtist: Vinnie Vincent was not seen publicly from 1996 until January ''2018''. He returned to the public eye at the Atlanta KISS Expo (brought on by months of gentle prodding from a major fan, through Vincent's lawyer), and explained that his 22 year absence was a combination of his lengthy lawsuit against his former band, an abysmal marriage to his now deceased second wife, a disdain for social media, and a general feeling that no one cared about him anymore. Needless to say, he was wrong on that last part, as he got a warm reception, and even had fans fly in from all over the world to see and meet him (including one fan from Australia who had the autograph of every member of KISS except for his).

*** Regarding Ace, nowadays [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcB2lV62jj0 he's stated]] that he actually likes both ''Music From The Elder'' and ''Phantom Of The Park''. His biggest problem with ''Elder'' is that he felt it was the wrong type of album for the band to release at the time (later proven right on several fronts because it performed like crap, and the band ultimately went with his idea to return to their hard rock sound anyway with ''Creatures Of The Night'' after he'd left the band). With ''Phantom'', he said he had a blast filming it, stating that the others thought they were [[TookTheBadFilmSeriously filming some masterpiece]], while he knew full well what kind of movie it was going to be.
