** Ryan Dunn died in a car accident in 2011.
** Averted in Johnny Knoxville's case, '''THRICE''', first during the "Rent-A-Car Crash-Up Derby" in the first movie, where one of the cars crashed into his, having its wheel smash through the windshield, inches away from Knoxville's face. The second was during the "Golf Cart Antics" in the same movie, where the golf cart with Knoxville and Dunn (who was driving) flipped over a fiberglass statue and got wrecked. Knoxville actually could have broken his neck from it. The third was in ''Number Two'' in the "Big Red Rocket" skit, the rocket he was gonna fly up into the air and into a lake ended up misfiring, exploding with him on it. It exploded on one part just ''inches'' away from his stomach. [[EnforcedMethodActing Then he tried it again]], that time it worked.

* DevelopmentHell: Plans for ''Jackass 4: We're Not [[PunnyName Dunn]] Yet'' were announced, but so far only Knoxville, Tremaine, Margera (who coined the title) and Steve-O have shown interest; the latter, on the condition that Bam would remain sober enough for filming the said movie. When it was announced in 2019, its production was stalled in early 2020 due to the UsefulNotes/Covid19Pandemic. It was able to resume filming in December of that year, but it resulted in Steve-O and Knoxville having to get hospitalized for injuries, and a month later Margera announced that he wouldn't be in it due to his mental troubles and alcoholism. The film ultimately did complete shooting, however, and is set for release in 2021, now titled ''Jackass Forever''.

** The Jackass crew were planned to take part in WWE storyline that culminated with a match against Wrestling/{{Umaga}} at ''Wrestling/{{SummerSlam}}'' in 2007, but dropped out due to the negative publicity surrounding the company following the Wrestling/ChrisBenoit double murder and suicide. However, the early stages of the storyline had already played out on ''Wrestling/WWERaw'', with Umaga attacking Pontius and Steve-O, and early advertisements for the event depicted an enraged Umaga standing above the Jackass crew (Minus the absent Bam and Dunn) buried up to their necks on a tropical beach.

* CreatorBreakdown: Bam has NOT had a good few years since Ryan died. Thankfully he stopped heavily drinking in 2015, though it was another 2 years until he could skate again due to joint problems caused by years of stunts, and the weight gain caused by not walking much during this time. That said, he's ''still'' not mentally well and even left rehab in 2018 and has done through multiple breakdowns and fights with family and even friends such as Brandon Novak (who ironically ''beat'' his heroin addiction), although 2020 showed ''some'' promise when Bam ended up pleading Dr. Phil of all people for help. This didn't last, however, as Bam made a drunken rant on his Instagram a year later confirming that he'd been fired from Jackass 4 for his continued struggles.

* ExecutiveMeddling: Among other things: after season one MTV handed Knoxville and company a list of things that they were not allowed to do, as far as content goes. Similarly, when Sen. Joseph Lieberman tried to get the show banned from airing, MTV caved like cowards, pulling all reruns of the series (which was in season two by that point) and forcing Knoxville to revise the show's warning so as to read it out loud to viewers.

** For reasons that should be incredibly obvious, MTV absolutely refused to air the part of the self defense sketch where Johnny shoots a real bullet into his bulletproof vest while wearing it, and overruled them on putting it on the DVDs too.

I don't think Knoxville gets hard from nearly dying. He seems kind of annoyed about it most of the time.

** Lieberman's actions also squashed plans for a "Jackass: Too Hot For TV" video release.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The only full, uncut episode available on DVD is the hour long Gumball Rally episode, which is only available on the bonus disc for a box set released. All three seasons are only available as a series of "Best Of..." compilations (with V2 and V3 having two releases, with the re-release having extra sketches added) and a "Lost Tape" compilation, which has all of the opening/ending sequences and the MIA sketches that didn't make the previous three [=DVDs=].
** Further adding to the mix, the season one "best of..." set was delayed for about 6 years due to feuding between the ''Jackass'' crew and MTV; while Knoxville and company have full control over content for the DVD releases, MTV outright refused to let them release season one on DVD due to their not wanting to let the gang wanting to release the ''Big Brother'' magazine sketches uncensored. Knoxville and company finally caved, meaning that you'll have to track down the original ''Big Brother'' magazine VHS tapes for the full version of the self-defense test sketch.

** The Terror Taxi was very nearly almost this - they nearly got stopped by police, twice, and Jay Chandrasekhar kept going off the rails (the police were told about the skit, but they still set up a damn roadblock), and two bystanders called the cops.
*** They were also about to attach squibs to the fake dynamite to scare Ehren more, but the Fire Marshal told them they had to more or less ruin the prank.
