* DummiedOut: Scias' naturally-learned "Analyse" spell was removed from the English version. It can still be assigned to any character with a VideoGame/GameShark, though in a buggy state.

* ChristmasRushed: The English localization was rushed (read: only took seven months) to make it into the 2000 holiday season. Not helping things was Capcom's American branch facing financial difficulties at the start of that year. The result? An untranslated title screen and credits sequence, among others (at least the official English logo was implemented in the European PS1 and PC releases).

* CompletelyDifferentTitle: The manga adaptation is officially called ''Utsurowazarumono - Breath of Fire IV'' in Japan, while the source material is present as a subtitle in the proper official name, many references and print information that the publisher makes to reference the manga only uses ''Utsurowazarumono'', so is not unheard of some people not knowing that the manga known as Utsurowazarumono is the fourth Breath of Fire game's official adaptation.

* FanTranslation: An unofficial English translation of the manga adaptation exists via [[{{Scanlation}} Something-Or-Other Scanlations]] which was completed in full.
